The extension of the Invalidity Scheme coverage to foreign workers under Act 4 is effective from 1 July 2024 

The Ministry of Human Resources through the Social Security Organization(SOCSO)  had announced the Extension of the Invalidity Scheme coverage to foreign workers under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4), effective July 01, 2024.

Employers who are employing foreign workers, including expatriates and foreign domestic workers, to ensure their foreign workers are covered under the Invalidity Scheme under the below two Contribution categories:

  1. First Category Contribution (Employment Injury Scheme and Invalidity Scheme): Applicable for foreign workers entering the PERKESO scheme for the first time under the age of 55.
  2. Second Category Contribution (Employment Injury Scheme): Applicable for foreign workers who have reached 55 years old or older when first entering the PERKESO scheme. Also applicable for foreign workers who have reached 60 years old and are still working.

The foreign workers who are eligible under category 1 and Category 2 should have the contribution as stated in the THIRD SCHEDULE of EMPLOYEES’ SOCIAL SECURITY ACT 1969 (ACT 4).
