The financial services industry is continuing its transition from traditional SWIFT MT messages to ISO 20022 MX formats. This change affects both payment processing and electronic bank statement reporting, making it important for organizations to modernize their integrations and remain aligned with global banking standards.

PeopleSoft has introduced new payment and bank statement layouts to support this transition.

Supporting Global SWIFT ISO 20022 Standards

ISO 20022 provides a standardized messaging framework for financial transactions. As part of this industry-wide shift, many legacy MT message formats are being replaced by richer, structured MX messages.  For organizations using PeopleSoft Financials, this means payment files and bank statement imports must increasingly support ISO 20022-compliant formats.

PeopleSoft has delivered new layouts in recent PeopleSoft Update Manager images to help customers prepare for these requirements.

New Payment Formats Delivered in PUM 50

In PeopleSoft PUM 50, new layouts were delivered for both credit transfer and direct debit initiation.

Credit Transfer Initiation

PeopleSoft now supports the ISO 20022 message format – pain.001.001.09.  The following layouts are available:

  • ISO Credit Transfer: ISO_CT_09
  • SEPA Credit Transfer: SEPA_CT_09

Direct Debit Initiation

PeopleSoft also supports the ISO 20022 direct debit format – pain.008.001.08.  The delivered layouts include:

  • ISO Direct Debit: ISO_DD_08
  • SEPA Direct Debit: SEPA_DD_08

New Bank Statement Formats

As banks continue adopting ISO 20022, CAMT messages are becoming increasingly important for electronic bank statement reporting. CAMT formats provide more structured and detailed transaction information than many traditional bank statement formats. For organizations working with European banks, support for CAMT bank statements is becoming an essential part of bank integration.

CAMT Bank Statement Support Delivered in PUM 55

In PeopleSoft PUM 55, PeopleSoft delivered a new CAMT layout for bank statement import.  The supported format is: camt.053.001.08.  This enhancement enables organizations to import CAMT.053 bank statements into PeopleSoft and use the statement data in downstream cash management and reconciliation processes.

PeopleSoft continues to expand its support for ISO 20022-based financial messaging.  These enhancements can help customers improve standards compliance, streamline reconciliation, and prepare for the continued global transition from SWIFT MT to ISO 20022 MX formats.
