Employees want to be able to enter absences, such as vacation or sick, in their timesheet where they report their worked hours. Administrators want the approvals to go through the process defined for Absences, not Reported Time. This was not possible in the past but in Image 37 PeopleSoft delivered the ability to have the absences routed using the approval process designed for absences, and reported time routed according to the reported time approval design.
All you will need to do is to turn on the ‘Use Absence Approval Definition for Request Absence’ checkbox on the Time and Labor Installation page, in the Fluid Timesheet Options section.

There are a couple of things to note:
- This only applies to the absence requests initiated from the fluid Enter Time page
- Any in-progress approvals will not be re-routed
Once the installation option is turned on the Absences entered from the fluid timesheet will be routed the same as if you submitted it directly from the Absence Request page.
