Having many traditional customizations in your PeopleSoft environment adds to the amount of time and resources it takes to adopt delivered updates or deploy new functionality. One of the best ways to minimize, isolate, prevent, or even remove old customizations is to take full advantage of the many configurable frameworks that are available to you in PeopleSoft HCM and PeopleTools.
For example:
You can use the PeopleSoft Dropzone feature to add custom text or fields seamlessly to the top, bottom, and/or middle (in some cases) of any Fluid page, without creating a customization to the component or PeopleCode. And soon enough you will be able to add dropzones to “classic” pages as well.
You can use the PeopleSoft Delegation Framework to keep business transactions flowing by permitting users to delegate authority to someone else for approving and/or initiating transactions on their behalf while away from work. (note: this feature is expected to be delivered soon)
You can use the PeopleSoft Activity Guide Composer to automate a set of manual tasks that guides users step-by-step through a virtually error-proof process. Each step may include actions performed within or outside of PeopleSoft – your choice.
You can use thePage & Field Configurator (PFC) to easily define which and how each step or field is presented to the user based on a set of criteria or transaction type. PFC can also be used for dynamically masking any field for data privacy compliance.
Whether you have a functional or technical role at your organization, learning more about these configurable frameworks will help extend the value of PeopleSoft to your organization. These frameworks are available at no additional cost or licenses and are delivered as do-it-yourself tools that typically require little investment of time or resources to use effectively.
To help you get started, we are announcing a new monthly series of webinars hosted by subject matter experts and focused on 12 configurable frameworks. Each month we will highlight one framework and talk in-depth about when to use it, how to use it, best practices, and answer any questions you may have.
These webinars will take place on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 11:00 AM US Eastern.
