Over the past several Images PeopleSoft’s ePerformance module has undergone a transformation aimed at enhancing user experience, championing continuous feedback, and empowering HR with robust analytics. If you haven’t explored these updates yet, here’s everything you need to know.
🎯 Mobile-First & Voice-Enabled Reviews
In early 2023, with Image 45, PeopleSoft started our modernization journey of Performance Management and introduced a sleek Fluid interface optimized for tablets and smartphones. This allowed for managers, employee and peers to input information on-the-go on whatever device they had at the time. This also allowed for the use of the built-in speech assistance available on most phones and tablets, which allows for speech-to-text functionality. This now allows users to dictate comments, saving time and effort in mobile contexts.
💬 Checkpoint Conversations, Reimagined
Feedback became more flexible with enhanced checkpoint-commenting and checkpoint-ratings. Managers and employees can now exchange richer feedback and maintain a continuous performance dialogue—all throughout the performance cycle, not just at year-end. PeopleSoft allows for up to 11 checkpoints during the year, and has added in enhanced functionality to make sharing of information during the check point seamless with visualization options available right on the page. If time gets away from you during the year, you can skip checkpoints and move on to the next scheduled checkpoint or evaluation if needed.
🧭 Instructional Text: Guidance at Every Step
With Image 50, HR teams gained the power to embed step-level instructional text within performance forms. Whether displayed inline or via pop-ups, these tips guide users gently through each phase—especially helpful for first-time users of the system.
🏆 Recognition is Now In-Built
Recognition is now integrated into performance reviews. You can add, view, and delete recognitions directly in the document and access a handy “Recognition Summary” section—making achievements visible and celebrated during evaluations.
📊 Smarter Calibration with Team Rating Insights
Images 46 and 50 brought the new Team Rating Insights dashboard: a powerhouse that visualizes rating distributions (preliminary vs. final) and benchmarks against organizational trends. Ideal for ensuring fair, consistent ratings in calibration sessions.
📈 Advanced Analytics at Your Fingertips
Also, part of Image 50, PeopleSoft shipped enhanced reporting tools—offering dashboards that track trends, rating patterns, and development outcomes. These analytical tools help HR teams make data-driven talent decisions. These advanced analytics transform performance management from a static, compliance-driven process into a strategic tool for workforce planning and talent development, empowering HR and managers to take proactive steps toward building a high-performing organization.
🌟New in Image 52: Fluid Performance Notes
PeopleSoft HCM Image 52 introduced Fluid Performance Notes, a mobile-friendly feature that allows employees and managers to create, view, and manage performance notes directly from the Performance Dashboard or Team Performance tile. Notes can be standalone or linked to specific performance documents, with options to mark them private or shareable. Managers can view historical notes, edit, and transfer them when roles change, ensuring continuity and compliance. This enhancement promotes continuous feedback, supports coaching conversations, and strengthens performance reviews with real-time observations.
💡 Why It Matters
– Mobility & ease-of-use: Run performance reviews from any device, anywhere.
– Continuous feedback: Better communication throughout the year, not just at evaluation time.
– Culture of recognition: Achievements stay visible in the review process.
– Fairness & transparency: Calibration tools help eliminate bias.
– Data-driven HR: Analytics equip teams to spot trends and intervention points.
📌 Bottom Line
PeopleSoft has shifted performance reviews from once-a-year administrative tasks into ongoing, mobile-friendly, data-rich experiences. These updates aren’t just conveniences—they’re essentials for organizations aiming to energize, develop, and retain their top talent.
