PeopleSoft Absence Management provides a comprehensive suite of tools for efficient tracking and management of employee absences. One notable enhancement is the ability to display the absence begin and end time on the Manage Absences page. This feature enhances transparency and precision in absence tracking, particularly for partial absences.

The enhancement allows administrators and managers to view specific start and end times for absences directly on the Manage Absences page. This feature is especially useful for absences that do not span full days, offering a granular view of how time off is utilized. The visibility of these time fields is contingent on the Partial Days Option settings, which must be configured as either Half Days, Partial Hours, or both Partial Hours and Half Days.

Key Benefits of Displaying Absence Times;

  • Improved Accuracy: By seeing the exact begin and end times of an absence, managers can more accurately assess the impact on operations and ensure proper coverage.
  • Enhanced Planning: This detailed information helps in planning and redistributing workloads more effectively, minimizing disruptions caused by partial absences.
  • Increased Transparency: Employees and managers alike benefit from greater transparency in how absences are recorded and managed, fostering trust and accountability.

Configuration

To enable this feature, ensure the Partial Days Option is configured as Half Days, Partial Hours, or both. This setting allows the Manage Absences page to display fields for begin and end times, enhancing the detail and accuracy of absence tracking.

Please note that these settings can be configured individually for each type of absence, allowing users the flexibility to enable or disable them according to the specific business processes and applicable absence types.

When these settings are active, the Manage Absences page will display fields for absence begin and end times, allowing for precise entry and review of partial absences.

When requesting an absence, it’s crucial to clearly specify both the start and end times of your leave. This ensures that your employer can make appropriate arrangements for your absence and maintain smooth operations. Here’s a brief description of how to address begin and end times in an absence event request:

Manage Absences – Employee Self Service > Time > Manage Absences

Partial Days – Choose Partial Days on the absence request page to open the Partial Days modal window, where you can enter the partial day details for your absence request

Begin Time – The begin time indicates the exact date and, if necessary, the specific time when your leave will start. Including this information helps your employer know when you will be unavailable and allows them to plan for coverage during your absence.

End Time –  The end time specifies when you plan to return to work. This can be a specific date and time, helping your employer understand the duration of your absence and prepare for your return.

The enhancement to PeopleSoft Absence Management by displaying absence begin and end times is a significant step forward in managing partial absences effectively. It brings a new level of detail and accuracy to absence tracking, ensuring that every hour of absence is accounted for correctly. By leveraging this feature, organizations can improve their absence management processes, leading to better resource planning, increased transparency, and overall operational efficiency.
