As a cloud customer, familiarity with the available security solutions and how to properly utilize them to secure your workloads running within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is critical. To help you learn and develop your technical skills around our security offerings, we have Oracle LiveLabs, which allow you to explore a wide variety of labs and technical workshops for Oracle’s tools and technologies running in OCI.

We’re happy to announce our latest addition to LiveLabs security workshops.

Deploy OCI Vulnerability Scanning service and use Qualys Cloud agents to scan your workloads on OCI

OCI Vulnerability Scanning service offering an integrated Vulnerability Scanning Qualys option for customers to use their Qualys Vulnerability Management, Detection, and Response (VMDR) license. OCI understands that enterprises depend on various security vendors and have large multicloud environments. With this integration, we help you use the same vulnerability scanning engine (Qualys) across your distributed deployments, while eliminating the need to manually patch and update the scanning agents on your OCI Compute instances. OCI Vulnerability Scanning manages the installation and configuration of the Qualys agents across your OCI Compute instances with this feature. Because OCI Vulnerability Scanning has full visibility into your OCI Compute inventory, you don’t need to compare the hosts listed in your Qualys dashboard against the list of instances in OCI or worry that an install script was missed.

To learn more, check out the announcement blog of OCI Vulnerability Scanning service integration with Qualys.

This workshop gives hands-on experience how you can use OCI Vulnerability Scanning solution with Qualys agent within OCI to scan your workloads and has the following outline:

  • Provision the infrastructure using Oracle Resource Manager and Terraform

  • Provision and configure the infrastructure manually

  • Learn to deploy OCI Vulnerability Scanning service integration with Qualys

  • Validate and review Scanning and Vulnerabilities reports from the Oracle Cloud Console

  • Destroy the infrastructure using Oracle Resource Manager or manually
