Oracle Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) is an Engineered System architected to provide a highly resilient, modern application environment. Oracle PCA can be paired with Oracle Exadata to create an ideal infrastructure for scalable, multitier applications. Customers using the Oracle PCA X9-2 realize “cloud-like” operational benefits. Using a separate firewall appliance in conjunction with the PCA X9-2 may help complement the customer’s network security and operational excellence between the PCA X9-2 and the outside world, helping enhance the security of the contents within the PCA X9-2.
The newly certified solution, FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) on Oracle PCA X9-2 helps to enhance enterprise-class firewall capabilities for organizations of all sizes, with the flexibility to deploy as a NGFW and/or VPN gateway. Together, these solutions help customers enhance network security.
With its flexibility and unique approach to network security, FortiGate Firewall delivers digital acceleration and risk management across both cloud and on-premises infrastructures, and more specifically delivers broad protection and automated management that scale from small deployments to ones with very large capacity using the NGFW virtual appliance on Oracle PCA X9-2. Its scalability is substantiated by FortiGate Firewall’s:
- Wide range of hardware and virtual appliances for their FortiGate Firewall
- Customizable configuration to match specific needs
- High-performance architecture that can handle large volumes of traffic without impacting performance
- Intelligent scaling capabilities that allow the firewall to scale up or down as needed to help ensure optimal performance and security
- Industry recognition, where it was named a Leader in Gartner’s 2022 Magic Quadrant for Network Firewall
Certification Process
Certifying Fortinet NGFW solution on Oracle Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) X9-2 provides customers with the assurance of a powerful and scalable security solution that is optimized for the PCA environment. Below is the process Fortinet followed:
- A dedicated compartment was created on the Oracle PCA X9-2
- A VM was deployed in that compartment running the Fortigate NGFW along with several Oracle Linux 8 client servers
- Several tests were run to test the ability to pass or block traffic between the client servers, based on policies and rule sets set up in the NGFW, which, along with the many other functions of the NGFW, simply worked
Benefits of the Oracle Private Cloud Appliance and Fortinet’s Solution
