Introducing HeatWave Always Free

We are excited to introduce HeatWave Always Free as part of OCI Always Free tier. All OCI accounts get access to a HeatWave Always Free instance in their OCI home region for an unlimited time. This allows organizations to experience the latest HeatWave features first-hand free-of charge.

HeatWave Always Free enables organizations to run small-scale applications accessing data from Object Storage and MySQL database using HeatWave MySQL, JavaScript, Analytics, HeatWave Vector Store, and HeatWave Lakehouse. Organizations can also build machine learning models with HeatWave AutoML and experience how HeatWave Autopilot can save significant time for developers and DBAs.

  • HeatWave Vector Store and vector processing: HeatWave Vector Store houses organizations’ proprietary documents in various formats, acting as the knowledge base for various use cases such as similarity/semantic search. Always Free – What is Included?

A HeatWave Always Free instance consists of 1 ECPU MySQL node and a 16GB memory HeatWave cluster, along with 50GB MySQL storage, 50GB MySQL backup, and 10GB Lakehouse storage.

Besides HeatWave Always Free, OCI Always Free tier includes other free OCI services such as Compute, Storage and Oracle APEX to enable you to quickly build small-scale applications or perform proof-of-concept testing for free. For a list of all Always Free resources, see here.

Create an Always Free Instance

To get started, sign up for an OCI Free Tier account.

For existing customers, there is no need to sign up again! Simply log in to Oracle Cloud tenancy and begin by creating a HeatWave MySQL DB System.

 

To set up Always Free instance, just choose “Always Free”, enter the database admin credentials, select the VCN. You can leave the rest of the fields at their default values and then click Create.

A new HeatWave Always Free instance will be successfully provisioned. You can now begin experimenting with HeatWave functionalities such as HeatWave MySQL, HeatWave Lakehouse, and HeatWave AutoML. For detailed guidance, please refer to Creating an Always Free DB System .
