Many FinTech companies and financial institutions have selected MySQL to build modern applications. The performance, ease of use, and customer support from the MySQL team are some of the many reasons why financial institutions and FinTech companies choose to use MySQL.
Ecopaynet is a FinTech company based in Spain. Ecopaynet services include electronic payment terminals, e-commerce sites, unattended payment environments such as vending machines, or a combination of these. Ecopaynet specializes in the development of payment gateway solutions which use state-of-the-art technologies for facilitating card payments.
Digital payments are in strong demand around the world and will continue to grow in the near future. Ecopaynet understands that it must continue to innovate if they are going to be the number one choice for their customers. Ecopaynet is currently using on-premise data centers in multiple locations. Their IT team spends a significant portion of their time maintaining systems instead of deploying services. Ecopaynet’s volume of transactions ebbs and flows, therefore having a fixed cost structure didn’t make sense for them. They were looking to reduce the ownership costs of their database and server to something that better fits their needs.
After evaluating MySQL HeatWave and other Cloud Database Services, Ecopaynet decided to use MySQL on Oracle OCI. As a result, Ecopaynet improved its time to market by being able to deploy applications on demand. One of their applications which validates event admission tickets, authorizes a visitor to access a venue as well as detects potential fraud, including falsified tickets with up to 150 simultaneous data entry points. MySQL allows Ecopaynet to validate tickets instantly and roll out an on-demand Covid safety protocol following the ticket validation. This allows Ecopaynet to be agile when rolling out their applications because they know they can deploy additional applications on top of one another. The customer experience is dependent on factors such as speed, user interface, and ease of use of direct payments. Success in these categories is what drives consumer/merchant adoption and recurring customers.
MySQL was a no-brainer for Ecopaynet from a financial and performance standpoint. If you’d like to read the full story on how Ecopaynet utilizes MySQL, read the full case study.
