January to February: Kicking Off Celebrations in Europe and Asia
The celebration began with the MySQL Belgian Days on January 30-31 in Brussels, where community members gathered not just for technical discussions but also to enjoy an anniversary cake and share in the collective excitement of MySQL’s journey. The festivities continued at FOSDEM 2025 (February 1-2), where our booth featured special 30-year branding, further emphasizing our commitment to the open-source community.

Later in February, the celebrations reached Taipei, Taiwan, on the 18th. This meetup offered attendees updates in MySQL and a venue for engagement with Philip Antoniades, Vice President of Oracle MySQL Global Solutions Engineering. On March 25, Tokyo hosted a significant event—celebrating both MySQL’s 30th and the MyNA’s 25th Anniversary. April: Celebrations and Technical Engagements
April saw a flurry of activities, starting with a MySQL Indian Event in New Delhi on April 9, focusing on how MySQL has been pivotal in India’s digital transformation narrative. It featured engaging sessions with industry leaders discussing the scalability and performance MySQL facilitates across various sectors.

June: Continuing the Festivities Across Continents

Each city hosted MySQL technical keynotes and celebratory blocks featuring anniversary cakes, fostering a spirit of togetherness and learning within the Oracle User Group community.

On August 8th the OraMex – LAOUC Community Tour took place in Brazil. This annual tour across several cities was organized by the local LAOUC community. The celebration of MySQL’s 30th anniversary was part of the event in São Paulo, Brazil.

Back in Brazil, the Brazilian Community Event on October 4 marked an entire day dedicated to technical content, serving over 100 MySQL enthusiasts. Participants relished in reconnecting with the community while exchanging knowledge about MySQL and other open-source technologies. The 30th anniversary celebration was a major part of the event in São Paulo this year.

The Final Touches: Special Promotions and Conferences
Throughout the year, in addition to our core celebration events, MySQL actively participated in various conferences showcasing our 30th-anniversary branding. Key events included Scale 22x in Pasadena, CA in March, All Things Open 2025 in October. Gitex in Singapore from April 23-25, and the AI Summit in London in June. We also connected with audiences at the Developer’s Conference and ROGADX 2025 in Brazil, in September, along with and many more. These opportunities allowed us to engage with a broader audience while distributing commemorative promotional items.
