Senior Director, Oracle Linux and Virtualization Product Management & Engineering
We are proud to announce the new release of Oracle Database 19c Templates for Oracle Linux KVM.
Oracle Database Templates for Oracle Linux KVM provide a fast and easy way of deploying a single Instance Oracle Database or an Oracle Real Application Cluster in Oracle Linux KVM, managed by Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager, for test and production environments. The new templates for Oracle Linux KVM and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager, built on cloud-init, deliver improved automation.
Oracle Database Templates for Oracle Linux KVM include ALL the latest bits for Oracle Database 19c, Oracle Linux release 7 Update 9 or Oracle Linux 8 Update 4 with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 6 (UEK6 Update 2). The latest bits now available are:
Single Instance & Oracle RAC 19c Enterprise/Standard Edition, including Oracle Grid Infrastructure Release Update (19.11.0.0.210420) & Oracle Linux 8 Update 4 – Available from My Oracle Support under Patch number 30999996 for 64-Bit Oracle Linux
Single Instance & Oracle RAC 19c Enterprise/Standard Edition, including Oracle Grid Infrastructure Release Update (19.11.0.0.210420) & Oracle Linux 7 Update 9 – Available from My Oracle Support under Patch number 30999995 for 64-Bit Oracle Linux
Oracle Database Templates for Oracle Linux KVM provide a framework that automates the creation of a single instance, Oracle Restart (single Instance/HA), or an Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) configuration in an Oracle Linux KVM environment. In a matter of minutes, the versatile and powerful Oracle Database Templates can be cloned into any number of VMs and deployed as a single Instance, Oracle Restart (single Instance/HA), or Oracle Real Application Cluster.
Oracle RAC is an option to the award-winning Oracle Database Enterprise Edition. Oracle RAC is a cluster database with a shared cache architecture that overcomes the limitations of traditional shared-nothing and shared-disk approaches to provide highly scalable and available database solutions for all your business applications. Oracle RAC is a key component of the Oracle Enterprise grid architecture.
The templates are designed to provide a fast and easy way of deploying Single Instance or Oracle RAC cluster in test as well as production environments.
The entire installation is automated, requesting minimal information (e.g. node names, IP addresses, etc.) from the user. Fully automated build of a Single Instance environment or a database cluster, on top of Oracle Linux KVM, are possible, including automated network setup for N-node clusters and the resulting single database instance or cluster configuration adheres to the best practices for production Oracle Database systems.
To get further details on Oracle Linux KVM Templates for Oracle Database:
Oracle Linux can be downloaded, used, and distributed free of charge and all updates and errata are freely available. Customers decide which of their systems require a support subscription. This makes Oracle Linux an ideal choice for development, testing, and production systems, since support coverage can be optimized for each individual system, while keeping all systems up to date and secure.
