Oracle is pleased to offer Extended Support for Oracle Linux 5 – effective June 27, 2017, and ending on June 26, 2020.

The Oracle Linux operating system is engineered for open cloud infrastructure. As part of our commitment to openness and flexibility, Oracle Linux 5 Extended Support gives you greater choice about when to move your systems to a new generation of Linux software.

While we highly recommend our customers move to Oracle Linux 7 or Oracle Linux 6 with the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel 4, with all of the advanced features and capabilities, we realize that migrations can take time. Oracle Linux 5 Extended Support, available for x86_32, x86_64 and IA64 architectures, provides high-impact bug fixes and critical security errata for your Oracle Linux 5 installation base.

Oracle Linux Extended Support is an extension of Oracle Premier Support with some significant differences.

What you get with Oracle Linux 5 Extended Support:

  • Security errata and critical stability fixes
  • 24/7/365 support
  • Unlimited service requests

What’s not included:

  • New hardware support
  • Backport of fixes that aren’t for security or critical stability

Oracle Linux 5 Extended Support has an additional cost. Pricing and additional details can be found in the Oracle Linux 5 Extended Support Data Sheet and here

Oracle Linux 5 Extended Support ends on June 26, 2020. At that time Oracle Linux 5 will go into Lifetime Support.

Oracle’s Lifetime Support policy allows customers to receive Sustaining Support for Oracle Linux 5 as long as you maintain an Oracle Linux Premier Support subscription.
