Understanding your organization’s environmental impact can be tricky, especially for carbon emissions. So many business activities and processes contribute to emissions that chasing down, organizing, and making sense of the relevant data is challenging. Oracle Fusion Cloud Sustainability can help. It’s a new product in the Fusion Applications Suite that collects data, calculates emissions, and analyzes (with visualizations) the results. With it, you can improve reporting accuracy, transparency, and compliance while enabling data-driven decisions. Here’s how it works.
Collecting data
Most of the data required to understand your environmental impact from emissions is not easily accessible. Getting to it often requires digging into accounts payable invoices or diving into supply chain processes. Fusion Cloud Sustainability can help you capture and organize this data automatically. It allows you to define the activities that are important to your organization and assign relevant attributes to track. Since it’s part of the Fusion Applications Suite, Fusion Cloud Sustainability can seamlessly gather data from Fusion Cloud ERP and SCM. And it can also pull in data from external, third-party sources.
Calculating impact
Once Fusion Cloud Sustainability has access to the right data, it uses your invoice classification rules and the emission factors you select to determine which activities contribute to your environmental impact and calculate by how much. Activities are posted to a sustainability ledger, which serves as a single source of truth for your organization’s sustainability activities. The entries in the ledger are linked to their source invoices, ensuring transparency and traceability for audits and providing a leg up on compliance reporting.
Analyzing results
Fusion Cloud Sustainability automatically exports data from the sustainability ledger to Fusion Data Intelligence. There, dashboards for emissions illuminate current performance and trends so you can make better tactical decisions, such as building carbon reduction programs in regions where they’re needed most. You can also create custom dashboards for other sustainability activities, including those related to water, waste, and energy. Additionally, data from the sustainability ledger can be uploaded into Fusion Cloud EPM to help you set appropriate targets, model multiple scenarios, and report on progress towards goals.
Conclusion
Oracle Fusion Cloud Sustainability helps audit and trace the environmental impact of products, processes, and suppliers. By streamlining data collection and improving both the calculation and reporting on emissions, it allows you to make better, data-driven decisions to help reach sustainability goals. Beginning with quarterly update 24D, Fusion Cloud Sustainability is available at no additional cost to all customers who subscribe to Oracle Fusion Suite Professional Cloud Service.
