News, tips and technical guidance to help you run Oracle E-Business Suite on Oracle Cloud.

ECC Framework V6 Now Available from OCI Marketplace

Terri Noyes, and Robert Farrington

We are pleased to inform you that an image containing the latest Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework for Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework V6, is now available in the OCI Console Marketplace (accessible from your Oracle Cloud account).

You can use this image to facilitate deployment of Enterprise Command Centers (ECC) in your tenancy.

A variety of Enterprise Command Centers and associated role-based dashboards have been specifically designed to help EBS users visualize, analyze, identify, and act on transactionsall from interactive displays. Users can also search, filter, and drill down into priority transactions as desired.

Using ECC With An Existing EBS Instance

The two main steps needed to use ECC with an existing EBS instance are summarized below.

  1. Create an ECC Framework Instance - With a subscription to the Oracle Compute Cloud Service, you can follow Provision a New Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework Release 12.2 Installation on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (MOS Note 2734421.1) to create a virtual machine containing the ECC V6 Framework.
  2. Integrate the ECC Framework Instance with EBS - After you create your ECC Framework V6 instance, MOS Note 2734421.1 will guide you through essential post-install steps that include updating your network and security configurations, and running a script to integrate with an existing EBS instance (12.2.4 or above). You will then configure your Enterprise Command Centers and role-based dashboards.

Deployment Options

If you already have an Oracle Compute Cloud service subscription, you can use this. If you do not yet have a subscription, you can create a free trial account to perform a test run of these images. Both these options are outlined below.

Option 1 - Use Existing Subscription

You can use the new image to deploy ECC Framework V6 and then integrate it with an existing EBS instance.

This applies whether your cloud EBS instance is the result of:

  • A manual lift and shift operation.
  • An automated lift and shift operation using Cloud Backup Module and Cloud Manager.
  • A Cloud Manager One-Click or Advanced Provisioning procedure.
  • Instantiation of an image such as the EBS 12.2.10 Demo Install Image.
  • Some other deployment strategy.

Option 2 - Try for Free

You can obtain a trial subscription by visiting oracle.com and clicking on Try Oracle Cloud Free. Using your trial account, you can first install EBS using an image such as the EBS 12.2.10 Demo Install Image. You then install Oracle Enterprise Command Center Framework using the Oracle ECC Framework image, and finally integrate the two installations.

Other Options for Deploying ECC Framework in Your Tenancy

  • The previously announced EBS 12.2.10 Demo Install Image includes the EBS database tier, application tier, and ECC tier all in a single VM, and as such is a quick alternative way to spin up an instance for previewing ECC.
  • Similarly, if you are using EBS Cloud Manager or above, One-Click Provisioning installs the EBS database tier, application tier, and ECC tier all in a single VM.

The above alternative solutions are currently available for ECC V5 only.
