Cloning Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) environments on OCI is a routine requirement for test, refresh, and lifecycle operations. The cloning process described in MOSFS Article ID KA1332 — introduced as part of the recent certification of EBS 12.2 on Oracle Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure — has now been expanded to include support for Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure.
As a result, the same cloning process now applies to both service types:
- Cloning Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 with Oracle AI Database 26ai or Oracle Database 19c on Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure and Exascale Infrastructure (MOSFS Article ID KA1332)
Cloning process overview
The main steps in the cloning process are:
- Prepare the source environment by completing patching cycles and running preclone steps
- Provision the target Exadata environment (Dedicated or Exascale) and create a compatible CDB
- Clone the PDB using the OCI Console and perform required post-clone database steps
- Configure the target system by running AutoConfig and setting up the application tier
Key considerations
- Cloning must be performed within the same tenancy, region, and availability domain
- The source and target must use the same service type
- Network connectivity between environments is required
