We are pleased to inform you that you can now upgrade your Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) 12c databases on Exadata Cloud@Customer Gen 2 to Oracle Database 19c using our certified, documented procedures. As part of this certification, our existing EBS Database 19c upgrade documents for Exadata Cloud Services on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) have been expanded to cover the Exadata Cloud@Customer Gen 2 platform.

This procedure brings the target Oracle Database 19c Oracle Home to the 19.14 Release Update (RU) level.

The following two My Oracle Support knowledge documents have been expanded to include Exadata Cloud@Customer Gen 2 content:

  • For Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2 and Oracle Database 12.1.0.2:

Upgrade Procedure

Before you can perform the database upgrade, your Exadata Cloud@Customer Gen 2 system must be on Oracle Linux 7 and Oracle Grid Infrastructure 19c.

The key steps in the upgrade, described in more detail in Document 2662718.1 and Document 2662717.1, are as follows:

  1. Install Oracle Database 19c on your Exadata system.
  2. Perform the necessary pre-upgrade steps.
  3. Upgrade your database to Oracle Database 19c (using the dbaascli cloud tooling).
  4. Perform the necessary post-upgrade steps.
  5. Run AutoConfig on all database tier nodes.
  6. Run AutoConfig on all application tier nodes.
  7. Apply the latest database release update (optional but recommended).
