This blog covers how to obtain the latest Oracle GoldenGate Microservices Architecture bundle patches, and which patch is the latest for each major release. Oracle always recommends running the latest bundle patch for all Oracle GoldenGate products, and this incredibly important if you are implementing GoldenGate for a new project, or if you are upgrading an existing environment to the latest bundle patch.
This blog is split into 3 sections, the first lists out the latest bundle patch for each major version, the second part covers how to download those builds, and the third contains information regarding running the appropriate database patch level to run Oracle GoldenGate for Oracle.
Latest Bundle Patches
The Microservices builds listed below are complete installs, which means that you can simply download the latest bundle patch and install it without having to install any previous versions. This makes utilizing the latest version very easy. When Oracle GoldenGate development releases a bundle patch, the builds are related to the bugs fixed. For example, if a bundle patch doesn’t include any changes that impact a particular database (for example MySQL), then it is unlikely that specific database build will be done. So, some databases may have a different “latest” bundle patch version, and that’s expected.
Downloading the patch
Once you have identified the patch that you want to install, you will need to click on the Download link. Once downloaded you may need to FTP the file to the server where Oracle GoldenGate is going to run. Once that is done, you can install it by follow the documentation here.
Please note there are some prerequisites for installing Oracle GoldenGate depending on the database you are going to connect to.
Oracle Database patches for Oracle GoldenGate on Oracle
Oracle GoldenGate for Oracle is tightly integrated with the Oracle Database and some bug fixes and enhancements are tied to the Oracle database version and patch level. The My Oracle Support document – Latest Oracle GoldenGate For Oracle Database & Oracle Database Patch Recommendations (KB136647) which contains the list of required database patches for each Oracle version. It is strongly recommended to install all the recommended patches for the best results.
