As AI rapidly transforms the cybersecurity landscape, it is also dramatically lowering the barriers for attackers to discover and exploit software vulnerabilities, and enabling complex multi-layer attacks that traditional defenses can’t fully address. In response, Oracle strongly recommends that customers upgrade to a Long Term Support Release, Oracle Database 19c or Oracle AI Database 26ai, and stay current with the latest Release Updates, starting in April 2026 (RU 19.31 or RU 23.26.2). These RUs include fixes to vulnerabilities identified with leading frontier AI models such as Anthropic’s Claude Mythos Preview and OpenAI’s models through Trusted Access for Cyber. Just as importantly, organizations should update client libraries and drivers to 19c or 26ai, maintain rigorous security best practices, and ensure strong network isolation. Upgrading to the latest releases and applying updates in a timely manner help limit exposure and maintain security over time. Note that Oracle Autonomous AI Database instances are automatically patched on a regular cadence. Co-managed database services such as Exadata Database Cloud service provide a high degree of automation for applying the latest updates to the entire database fleet.

Upgrades and ongoing patching can be complex in large, highly integrated on-premises environments. Oracle provides resources including My Oracle Support and Customer Success Services to help customers plan, test, and execute upgrades and stay current.
