Steve Jobs said, “Learn continually. There’s always ‘one more thing’ to learn.” I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t agree with this quote. When it comes to technology, there’s something new to learn every day.
If you haven’t registered yet, Oracle CloudWorld presents a unique opportunity to learn, not in a textbook way, but in more than a few ways to immerse yourself in learning new or brush-up your skills and knowledge. Listen to innovative leaders in deep dive sessions or get your hands dirty to solve a problem with hands-on labs. Attendees can personalize their learning path and choose various ways to engage and interact with industry peers and Oracle technology experts
Talking Oracle CloudWorld
In conversation with my colleague Larry Beausoleil, a cloud engineering senior enablement manager on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)’s cloud engineering team, I discussed various aspects that were kept in mind while designing and planning learning at Oracle CloudWorld.
Tell us about Oracle’s approach to learning. How has it helped shape the learning framework at Oracle CloudWorld this year?
Larry: At Oracle, our approach to learning is simple. Building knowledge continually comes from learning beyond the classroom or for exams. Each year, Oracle University trains more than 400,000 technologists on OCI alone. But we consider this only one of the avenues for learning. In the year 2021 alone, we have published over 350 reference architectures. Then, we have hands-on labs for almost all OCI services and features and solutions too. With these hands-on labs, customers can go into Console environments and learn through actionable practice. All at no cost! The list doesn’t even include the developer program in-depth workshops, Live Labs, tutorials, webinars, on-demand learning videos, podcast series, and more. The fact we meet our customers face-to-face after so long enriches the experience even more.
We have designed the learning experience so that attendees of CloudWorld can apply what they learn during the conference cause the real work starts when learners transfer and apply the new knowledge and skills to improve their performance. So, while attendees can solidify and strengthen their learning at the conference, they can continue to learn through our online learning programs later.
So, October isn’t far. What are you most excited about?
Larry: I’m most excited about meeting and interacting with our customers in person after so long. Before the pandemic and virtual training, we had these immersive learning sessions every month in various cities across the US and globally. The last two years have been nothing like before. Things getting back to how they used to be to some degree is a great feeling, and I can’t wait to meet and connect with our customers!
