In the third year into this new pandemic world, who’s ready for some genuine face time? Here’s our opportunity: Oracle’s annual conference is happening this October! After years of discontinued in-person events, we’re excited to see you all at Oracle CloudWorld from October 17–20, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV (with safety precautions in place, of course).

I’m looking forward to meeting and interacting with colleagues—meeting a few in-person for the first time—and our customers at CloudWorld. I’m calling this the most power-packed three days of 2022. Why?

Power-packed agenda

Oracle CloudWorld is designed to bring Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and applications customers and partners together to learn directly from their peers and Oracle experts with the following features:

  • Hundreds of sessions to choose from, including keynotes, learning sessions, hands-on labs, and birds-of-a-feather sessions

  • Hundreds of demos and theater presentations that provide exposure to a wide range of cloud solutions

  • At least half of all sessions feature a customer story or speaker, so you learn about the cloud in the real world

I’d say these factors adds up to an excellent place for you to find ideas, skills, and community connections.

Inspiring leadership

You have likely experienced this before: The best session at any gathering or conference delves into challenges and surface opportunities that come along. All the sessions at CloudWorld are designed to maximize the reality of challenges and opportunities facing today’s technologists. If you have attended any Oracle conference, you know how familiar it is to see experts and peers openly sharing strategies and best practices for getting the most out of OCI and Oracle Database. Oracle CloudWorld is nothing but an amplification of that.

I’m personally excited about the following sessions from the OCI session catalog, and you don’t want to miss them either:

  • Carvana streamlines processes with custom application built on OCI: Carvana has become a household name in the last couple of years. But did you know that their custom vehicle management solution, Carli, processes 500–600 vehicles a week? Standardizing workflows across multiple inspection centers to manage the inventory is one of the challenges on the Carvana team’s list. Their senior vice president, Abhishek Chauhan, and Oracle product manager Tim Moore share business case, implementation, and deployment insights.

  • How American Airlines transformed legacy apps and migrated to OCI: Recently, the American Airlines platform team supporting AAdvantage, the airline industry’s largest and oldest loyalty program, migrated a critical legacy system to OCI, resulting in the world’s largest Siebel customer relationship management (CRM) implementation. In this session, audiences learn how this team used OCI to not just lift and shift their critical application based on Oracle’s Siebel CRM and Oracle Database, but completely modernize how it’s deployed, managed, and monitored, transforming it into an open source Kubernetes cluster deployed in Oracle Container Engine for Kubernetes (OKE). The Loyalty Platform organization at American Airlines, led by Jason MacZura, and their operations lead Pabolu Venkata provides technical lessons learned while demonstrating how OCI helped modernize the traditional legacy applications.

I can’t wait to hear from the passionate Oracle leadership team to share the real-world lessons and insights they have collected.

Dynamic activities

When I saw the list of activities beyond the sessions and training, I thought, “Isn’t the Oracle CloudWorld planning committee a bit overenthusiastic?” But now, as we get ready, I’m super excited. It’s Vegas, after all! I hope to see you at some of my favorite activities:

  • Social gatherings: Wrap up a day of learning with drinks, dinner, and entertainment in Las Vegas. Some Oracle sales and product groups host small, private-invitation gatherings around the Strip, so you can meet and mingle with your peers.

  • The CloudWorld party: It’s party time! Just when you think you’ve seen and done everything at CloudWorld, there’s more. Join us on Wednesday for an evening packed with concerts, food, drinks, and networking.

  • At CloudWorld, we celebrate diversity and inclusion throughout the week with sessions, a dedicated lounge, and receptions. So, get involved and join the conversation because diversity is a fact and inclusion a choice.

Try it yourself

If these reasons aren’t enough for you to register, here’s a bonus!

Oracle CloudWorld Hub: Join our team for this lab where you can discover and familiarize yourself with OCI services in a new way. This high-touch activity is the place to get your questions answered by the OCI community. You can meet with expert OCI architects to dive deep into the challenges and opportunities of your deployments and get real-time help designing architectures for OCI workloads.

Check out the complete session catalog on the Oracle CloudWorld event site.

If you can’t make it this year, you can always connect with the broader Oracle OCI community and us on Cloud Customer Connect. We hope to see you on the Vegas Strip!
