api.video offers an infrastructure for video hosting, management, and distribution aimed at developers and businesses, with a complete API that simplifies the integration of video content into a website, software, or mobile application. After proving itselt in Europe and the United States, api.video is entering a new phase of development by launching innovative AI-based features that leverage the power of NVIDIA GPUs on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This solution not only addresses the performance and scalability challenges faced by a growing startup but also meets the security and data privacy requirements essential to professional AI applications.
Created in 2019, api.video has experienced rapid growth by offering an "all-in-one" solution that meets the needs of video content integration into new services offered by businesses. Whether it's adding user-generated content (UGC) videos to a social network, enriching technical sheets on an e-commerce site, or adding videos to your e-learning platform, video distribution has become indispensable. However, it requires a flexible and secure infrastructure that allows enterprise applications and services to easily integrate videos. api.video was created with the vision of a world where video is a universal language and offers an easy-to-use API for video hosting, encoding, and distribution.
In 2023, api.video chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to expand its infrastructure in the United States. The choice of an American hyperscaler allowed it to accelerate and facilitate its deployment by integrating into a local data center to reduce latency and by ensuring that new machines would be available quickly to support its growth.
"The performance and scalability of our infrastructure are essential to consider the development of our activities while maintaining excellent response times," explains Emilien Gobillot, Head of Infrastructure at api.video. "For services like ours, customers want a responsiveness of a few milliseconds for video distribution."
"Thanks to this technical and financial flexibility, we can obtain machines perfectly suited to our needs without blowing up costs," says Emilien Gobillot.
The development of generative AI and video-to-text models has opened new perspectives to make videos more accessible and save time in transcription phases. To enrich its API, api.video now offers transcription services, automatic translation for subtitles, and video summarization in a few lines, directly integrated into its solution so that processed data does not leave its infrastructure.
To build this offering, api.video needed more power and GPUs suitable for AI inference tasks. By turning to Oracle, Emilien Gobillot was able to obtain NVIDIA GPUs and the expertise of Oracle consultants to implement them quickly. To demonstrate the simplicity and speed of its offer, api.video has already made these new services accessible and testable for free on its solution (link) or this demo (link).
This accelerated evolution of AI opens up many use cases to attract and retain an even wider audience. Video becomes more easily discoverable and universally understood, giving it even more value.
api.video is taking advantage of these developments in the video field through its work with Oracle and NVIDIA and is confidently envisioning the exponential growth of uses, thanks to the power and agility of its cloud infrastructure.
"For a company like ours, relying on a hyperscaler like Oracle is a strong signal for our clients," adds Emilien Gobillot. "We show that we have the means to achieve our ambitions."
