In 2019 the US federal government released the 2019 Federal Cloud Computing Strategy, Cloud Smart. The Federal Cloud Computing Strategy is a long-term, high-level strategy to drive cloud adoption in federal agencies. This policy offers a path forward for agencies to migrate to a safe and secure cloud infrastructure.
Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and Oracle PeopleSoft are often a large, if not the largest, application deployed at a US federal government agency. Oracle EBS and PeopleSoft are applications well suited to be migrated to the cloud. Because of the criticality of these applications, these applications often require the best possible service level agreements (SLAs) for availability, manageability, and performance. A cloud service provider like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) can provide.
How do you modernize your ERP with Oracle Government Cloud?
Oracle Government Cloud allows a federal agency to modernize in the following ways:
-
Infrastructure modernization: As a government agency when you move to Oracle Government Cloud, you no longer need to worry about infrastructure upgrades. Your workloads are backed by SLAs, you’re using the latest processors, and you no longer need hardware refreshes. Oracle Government Cloud refreshes the hardware transparently.
-
Oracle Database Cloud service: You can use Oracle Database as a cloud service and use Oracle Exadata as a cloud service through Exadata Cloud service. Oracle Database Cloud service provides you with a cloud service model for Oracle Database. Oracle Database Cloud service makes tasks such as deployment, backups, and patching much easier. By automating these tasks, you free up time for more innovation instead of maintaining these tasks.
-
Multicloud strategy: If you’re already invested in another cloud service provider, you can implement a multicloud strategy to become cloud smart. The Cloud Smart Strategy encourages agencies to use multiple clouds, which can be effective and efficient in managing workloads. By using Oracle Government Cloud to host your Oracle enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, you’re using a multicloud strategy that’s effective and efficient. Oracle applications such as EBS and PeopleSoft run best on Oracle Government Cloud.
-
Hybrid cloud strategy: If you’re a VMware customer, you can choose to extend your workloads onto Oracle VMware Cloud Solution. Oracle VMware Cloud Solution allows customers to maintain their VMware workloads in the cloud while using OCI services, such as Oracle Database Cloud.
How can I move my Oracle ERP systems to Oracle Government Cloud?
The easiest way to move your Oracle ERP systems to Oracle Government Cloud is what Oracle calls “move and modernize.” You can move your Oracle ERP systems to Oracle Government Cloud without rearchitecting. Everything from your infrastructure to your customizations remains the same, and you gain the modernization benefits described.
If you want to take you Oracle ERP systems to the next level, consider using Accenture Federal Services Cloud ERP (AFCE) offering. AFCE is a software-as-a-service (SaaS)-like offering for federal government customers. As part of AFCE, Accenture Federal Services assist government customers in moving and modernizing Oracle EBS and Oracle PeopleSoft systems to OCI’s FedRAMP High or DoD DISA Impact Level 5 (IL5) regions. AFCE also allows customers to consume Oracle EBS and Oracle PeopleSoft in a SaaS-like model.
AFCE is FedRAMP authorized at the SaaS moderate level. Using Oracle EBS or Oracle PeopleSoft in a SaaS-like model allows customers to not worry about maintaining the infrastructure, development, patching, and security. Those aspects are managed by Accenture Federal Services as a managed service. This option allows government agencies to modernize the infrastructure, application, and the way the government consumes Oracle ERP.
By allowing AFCE to take over the responsibilities to maintain the infrastructure, development, operations, and maintenance of your agencies’ Oracle ERP, you transform your IT organization to allow you to divert costs and resources elsewhere.
Ready to make a move?
Still not convinced? Check out this video as Oracle and Accenture CEO’s discuss AFCE and what’s next in cloud computing and AFCE on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. I would usually say take it for a spin, but this is a uniquely designed solution. You can’t sign up for it like with an ordinary SaaS offering. What Accenture Federal Services can do, as a trusted Oracle partner, is help you with all you need to get started, including an assessment, creating a proof-of-concept with Oracle’s assistance, and providing you with total costs of ownership analysis to show you the benefits of moving to the Accenture Federal Cloud ERP Platform. We’ve seen some great success with Accenture Federal Services, moving development and test environments to Oracle Government Cloud-first as a proof-of-concept to start.
