Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is one of the fastest-growing clouds in the world with 78 cloud regions across the globe, enabling customers to rapidly onboard, deploy, and scale their workloads. While the adoption of the public cloud is steadily increasing, organizations worldwide are also actively looking for distributed cloud solutions, including hybrid, multicloud, and edge, that offer them flexibility and scalability while also being able to meet strict data residency and latency and network connectivity requirements. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provides numerous options for distributed and edge cloud deployments including OCI Dedicated Region, Compute Cloud@Customer, Exadata Cloud@Customer, and Roving Edge Infrastructure (Roving Edge Device and Roving Edge Ultra).
We’re pleased to announce the general availability of second generation of the Roving Edge Device (RED), the latest addition to Oracle’s distributed cloud portfolio, delivering unparalleled processing power, seamless connectivity, and ironclad security at the edge of networks and in disconnected locations. With Roving Edge Device, run multiple workloads from enterprise apps to AI and select OCI services at the edge with simplified deployment, cloud economics, and improved control over data residency and security.
What is Oracle Roving Edge Device?
The Oracle Roving Edge Device (RED) is a portable hardware platform providing cloud-integrated services that enable OCI cloud compute and storage at the edge of networks and in disconnected locations.
“Intel-based edge products like RED are great for scaling from the cloud to the edge, supporting broad features including AI, ease of deploying at the edge, and reduced total cost of ownership,” said Sachin Katti, SVP and general manager of the Network and Edge Group at Intel.
Building on a robust foundation designed to meet the demands of security applications, the second generation of the Roving Edge Device not only enhances core capabilities but also introduces specialized configurations to meet business needs across various industries.
