Can Artificial Intelligence Live Up to the Hype?

Barb Darrow
Senior Director of Communications, Oracle

Some technology observers suggest that artificial intelligence (AI) is the great tech hope, capable in theory of curing diseases—or at least arming researchers to do so. But others say AI will be hindered by fundamental flaws in learning models and sometimes-faulty data.

In the new episode of the Stories from the Cloud podcast, Bill Kleyman, Executive Vice President of Digital Solutions for data center operator Switch, discusses whether AI—or any technology—can live up to the spectacular promises made for it.

Tune in to hear a lively discussion with cohosts Barbara Darrow and Michael Hickins about topics including:

  • A drone that used AI and repeated trial-and-error (including many crashes) to teach itself to fly and navigate.
  • How the "garbage in, garbage out" adage that has governed computing for decades is still true. If your data or model is faulty, your AI won't amount to much.
