CloudWorld is under a month away, and on the AI team, we’ve been hard at work putting together sessions and hands-on labs for you to experience and learn from. You’re missing out if you don’t select all 140+ sessions in our track, but if you don’t have enough time to attend them all, I’ve rounded up some of our top artificial intelligence (AI) sessions for you.

Top AI learning sessions

If there’s one session you don’t want to miss, it’s VP Elad Ziklik’s session on The State of AI for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). He is joined by heavy hitters like Ian Buck, general manager and VP of Accelerated Computing at NVIDIA, Peter Wang, founder and CEO of Anaconda, the world’s most popular data science platform, Warren Jones, CTO of SailGP, to discuss the future of AI, Oracle’s vision, and what you can expect from AI at Oracle.

Another session that promises to be interesting is Evolution of Digital Assistants and Conversational AI-Enabled Automation [PAN3602] with VPs Srini Vinnakota, Suhas Uliyar, and customers Leah Monica, VP at Costco, and Mike Spalding from Yum! Brands. Attend to discover how retailers and higher education organizations are delivering new customer service and contact center experiences powered by digital assistants and chatbots. Developers and data scientists, assemble!

At Oracle, we’re currently classifying Oracle AI into two broad categories, encompassing our AI services and our machine learning (ML) services.

To learn about our AI services designed for developers, I recommend Oracle Cloud Infrastructure AI Services for Business Innovation [LRN3748], where you can join our product managers Luis Cabrera-Cordon and Guy Michaeli and their guest Ari Sprung from Kaltura. At their session, you discover how AI can deliver on real business impact (instead of research and experimentation, as much fun as they are) and discover how Oracle has made it easier for developers to apply AI to applications and business operations. You also learn how Oracle customers have custom trained their ML models (even if they don’t have data scientist experience) to achieve more accurate business results and discover more use cases across healthcare, manufacturing, and retail.

To learn about our machine learning services designed for data scientists, I recommend Oracle’s Machine Learning Ecosystem: Services and Impact [LRN3747] with Director of Product Management Elena Sunshine and VP of Data Science at Project Ronin Dr. Christine Swisher. Dr. Christine Swisher has been performing groundbreaking work in the arena of healthcare AI, and in this session, she shares the challenges and learnings she experiences. You also learn about how OCI Data Science was created to help data scientists work more efficiently with access to hundreds of popular open source tools and MLOps capabilities to help models stay healthy in production. You can also discover how our ML ecosystem is supported by other services across OCI.

How customers use AI, and you can too

I also want shout out to customer sessions that I’m excited about.

"YOLO" model detecting healthy/diseased objects in an image

Drones, data science, sustainability, tree populations across Norway—this session has all the buzzwords (except maybe the trees part). With Drones and Custom Modeling to Detect Disease at Scale [LRN3709], we have two researchers from the Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research, Stefano Puliti and Rasmus Astrup, traveling halfway around the world to share their story. Along with JR Gauthier, our architect for OCI Data Science, they share how they’re improving the efficiency and sustainability of the Norwegian forest sector. In one example, they’re using drone images to diagnose damaged trees in populations across Norway through sophisticated You Only Look Once (YOLO) models.

Product manager Prasanna Ventakesan will have words for me if I don’t mention his session, but his topic is something we’re thrilled to share. SailGP’s Warren Jones, CTO, is joining us with How AI Provided SailGP with Real-Time Monitoring and Predictive Analytics [LRN1142]. There, they discuss how SailGP uses OCI Streaming, Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, and OCI Anomaly Detection to collect more than a billion data points per race, monitor race and boat performance, and hone in on specific anomalies from thousands of API calls and more than a billion inferences.

AI workshops and labs: DIY with AI

Now, let’s talk about hands-on labs. Our team has been hard at work creating incredible experiences for you, so you can try our products with experts on hand to guide you and answer your questions.

  • Galactic Explorations with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Vision [HOL3907]: Take a trip through the Milky Way and spot galaxies, nebulas, and distant planets with the help of your trusty tour guide, OCI Vision service. Learn how to train an object detection model to detect and identify planetary and galactic images, with no data science experience required.

  • Real-Time Fan Sentiment Analysis During an Oracle Red Bull Race [HOL3902]: Emotions run high with Oracle Red Bull Racing. Determining how fans feel is key to successfully understanding the passion and excitement of the race, and then being able to apply those sentiments for new business drivers. Through various OCI AI services, which provide prebuilt and custom trainable AI models, this analysis becomes possible even without data science experience.

  • Try Machine Learning and Win a Race Simulation with Oracle Red Bull Racing [HOL3908]: You’re the race strategist at Oracle Red Bull Racing. Your mission? The night before the race, you must use machine learning (ML) to predict which factors determine the fastest race. But you have multiple factors to consider: Tire compounds, qualifying performance, historical data on which laps are chosen for pit stops, and expected weather conditions. Which variables make all the difference? Attend to experiment with predictive models and learn about all the steps of building and deploying a machine learning model.

  • Deliver True Conversational AI in Minutes—Without Developer Expertise [HOL4322]: Successfully implementing an enterprise chatbot has traditionally required the skills of both professional developers and natural language practitioners, but this idea is no longer the case. The evolution of both AI-generated conversation and visual design tools means the ability to build out sophisticated chatbots is now easily within reach of both knowledge workers and citizen developers. We introduce the latest visual development paradigm and show how you can quickly and easily build out a chatbot without relying on the experts in the IT department.

That’s a wrap!
