We’re excited to announce the release of Announcement subscriptions, which can help you ingest the operational announcements on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) products and services in a personalized and efficient manner.

The new release brings the Announcement dashboard, Announcement subscriptions, and filter groups for you to create a personalized announcement experience. The Announcement service, combined with Notifications service can deliver the announcements not only to the Oracle Cloud Console and email, but to a wide variety of channels supported by the Oracle Notifications service.

This release adds the ability to delivering filtered announcements to different user groups, this is a change from the previous functionality of delivering all announcements to the tenancy administrator. The integration of the Notification service allows you to define automated workflows, which can be triggered based on the announcement details including announcement type, region, service and compartment.

Announcement service offerings

The service allows you to customize how announcements are consumed today. The existing way of delivering announcements through the Console and email at the tenancy level remains unchanged and continues to exist. The Announcement service offers the following features:

  •  Announcement list view: The list view provides with all the announcements which can be filtered by date, service, status and platform.

  • Announcement subscriptions: This section allows you to create subscriptions for the announcements being made with filter capacity. The subscribed announcements are delivered to the topic of choice in the Notifications service. You can subscribe to these topics for delivery of these notifications to email, PagerDuty, Slack, Functions, and HTTPS endpoints.

  • Announcement filters: Each subscription has filter groups. Each filter group can add one or more filters selected from a drop-down list based on platform type: software, infrastructure, or platform-as-a-service (SaaS, IaaS, andPaaS), region, compartment, service, resource type, resource OCID and announcement type. All the announcements satisfying the given criteria are delivered to the specified Notifications topic. The target topic can have multiple subscribers configured to deliver the announcements. For example, a Database customer can create an announcement subscription based on Platform=“IaaS,” Service=“Autonomous Database,” Announcement Type=“Emergency Maintenance.”
