The FreeBSD Foundation is pleased to announce that, as of the FreeBSD 13.1 release, arm64 FreeBSD images are now available in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The addition of FreeBSD represents OCI commitment to providing a wide range of open source platforms.

FreeBSD on OCI
“Thanks to the collaboration with the folks at Oracle Cloud and efforts from the FreeBSD community, we were able to get the latest FreeBSD images up and working with minimal challenge,” said Ed Maste, senior director of technology at the FreeBSD Foundation. “The Foundation commends forward-thinking cloud providers like OCI for recognizing the importance of including FreeBSD in their ecosystem.”
“Providing developers access to FreeBSD through our cloud native ecosystem is a key component of our strategy of contributing to the open source community,” said Dan Gerrity, Oracle senior VP of developer services.
Engaging with new cloud providers to expand our reach is an integral part of the Foundation’s technology roadmap. “We’re thrilled that so many cloud providers are supporting FreeBSD, and now we can add Oracle Cloud to that group of innovative companies,” said Deb Goodkin, executive director of the FreeBSD Foundation. “It’s great to see Oracle recognize some of the unique advantages that FreeBSD brings to the table.”
You can find the arm64 FreeBSD images in the Oracle Cloud Marketplace. The Foundation looks forward to continuing their partnership with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as future FreeBSD releases become available.
