The Oracle Analytics platform is a cloud-native service that provides the capabilities required to address the entire analytics process from data ingestion and modeling, through data preparation and enrichment, to visualization and collaboration without compromising security and governance. This platform offers flexible deployment and management options.
Oracle Analytics offers two deployment options:
- Oracle-managed — Deploy Oracle Analytics Cloud on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
- Customer-managed — Deploy Oracle Analytics Server on premises or host Oracle Analytics Server on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) is a scalable and secure public cloud service that provides a full set of capabilities to explore and perform collaborative analytics for you, your workgroup, and your enterprise. With Oracle Analytics Cloud, you get flexible service management capabilities, including fast setup, easy scaling and patching, and automated lifecycle management.
Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) is the next generation of Oracle’s Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE). Oracle Analytics Server first became available for deployment on premises and manual deployment on OCI in early 2020.
Oracle Analytics Server has continued to expand its capabilities, and now we have announced the latest version: Oracle Analytics Server 2025.
Review the What’s New for Oracle Analytics Server 2025 for an overview of new features and enhancements added recently to improve your Oracle Analytics Server experience in the following areas:
- Data Connectivity, Modeling, and Preparation
- Exploring, Dashboarding, and Storytelling
- Augmented Analytics and Machine Learning
- Performance, Compliance, and Administration
- Deployment on Oracle Cloud Marketplace
To enable easier Oracle Analytics Server deployment on OCI, we now offer Oracle Analytics Server on Oracle Cloud Marketplace. Two licensing options are available:
- Bring Your Own License (BYOL) for customers with an Oracle Fusion Middleware on-premises license
- Universal Credits (UCM) for customers with an active Oracle Cloud account (Pay As You Go or Annual Universal Credits)
BYOL customers can use Oracle Cloud Marketplace to quickly and easily deploy Oracle Analytics Server, paying only for the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure components they use. This includes a database and compute resources.
UCM customers add on the Oracle Analytics Server license at a rate of $1.75 per CPU per hour. As with all Oracle Cloud services, UCM customers are charged only for the hours during which the instance is active.
Unlike Oracle Analytics Cloud, you can stop your Oracle Analytics Server instance, and all charges stop accruing. You can pause Oracle Analytics Cloud; however, charges accrue at 15% of the full usage rate.
How does Oracle Analytics Server on Oracle Cloud Marketplace differ from Oracle Analytics Cloud?
Oracle Analytics Cloud is fully Oracle-managed cloud service that’s updated several times a year. Oracle Analytics Server releases lag behind Oracle Analytics Cloud and fully catch up once each year.
Oracle Analytics Server includes most of the features available in Oracle Analytics Cloud but doesn’t currently offer AI Assistant, data replication, and natural language generation. See Feature Availability and Comparison Between Oracle Analytics Server and Oracle Analytics Cloud.
Because Oracle Analytics Server is fully customer-managed, you have more flexibility with data drivers, server configuration, and UI customization than customers using Oracle Analytics Cloud.
Which option should I choose?
Here are a few tips when choosing among the options:
- Oracle Analytics Server is the best-fit solution if you require an on-premises solution that can be highly customized by your IT department. It’s also best for commercial and public sector customers in regulated industries who intend to keep their business applications on-premises.
- Oracle Analytics Server on Marketplace is the best-fit if you’re looking for a cloud-based solution that can be deployed, managed, and customized by your IT department. This is ideal if you intend to manage your own deployment while taking advantage of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. As an example, see American Tower Customer Story.
- Oracle Analytics Cloud is the best-fit if you need a fully managed public cloud platform. This option is ideal for cloud-first customers with a combination of on-premises and SaaS applications.
