By now, we hope that you are familiar with the Oracle Visual Builder cookbook. This demo application provides recipes for implementing various patterns and capabilities in your Visual Builder application. The latest update to the cookbook adds a bunch of new demos that you can learn from.

Here are some of the key highlights you'll find in the new version

Progressive Web Application

Oracle is focusing our mobile efforts on leveraging Progressive Web Apps (PWA) as the way to distribute on-device mobile applications. In the latest version of Visual Builder we added PWA packaging capabilities to web application (in addition to the mobile apps that were already supported). We replaced the hybrid demos that were part of the cookbook before with new PWA demos that cover how to integrate your app with

  •   geolocation
  •   barcode scanner
  •   swipe gestures
  •   take photo

The VB Cookbook itself is now a PWA app and can be installed directly from vbcookbook.oracle.com as your device app. Just open the site on your phone and then on Android from the browser's menu choose install app, and from iOS use the share button and choose add to homepage.
To make cookbook work as PWA and on various devices we made it 100% responsive app down to phone size!

Dynamic Components

The Oracle JET dynamic components help you create user interfaces that change and adjust dynamically based on various conditions. You can learn more about them in this blog entry and this recording from our Oracle Visual Builder Office Hours.

In the VB cookbook you can now find the following demos:

  • dynamic form
  • dynamic list
  • dynamic container
  • dynamic form list view
  • dynamic container responsive

Even More

In addition we added several other demos of other capabilties in Oracle Visual Builder:

  • collapsible list
  • dynamic sdp
  • checkbox set
  • customize fetch chain
  • oj-refresher

We recommend you install a copy of the cookbook on your Visual Builder instance to get access to all the sample and the code behind them whenever you need it.
