The new version of Oracle Visual Builder Studio – version 2407 – can now be found in your cloud instance. Here are some of the key new features you'll find in this release.

Dark Application Theme

When you create a default empty application, you can switch the user interface between light and dark theme. The UI of the application automatically adjust to the theme you (or your end user) choose. This works very nicely with the dark theme that you can use for the VB IDE itself.

Usability Improvements

We are constantly enhancing the development experience for developers. Some examples enhancements you'll notice in this release include:

  • a streamlined experience of creating variables that removed the popup used before.
  • A declarative way to define expressions for conditions in action chains.
  • Ability to duplicate code blocks directly from the visual editor.
  • Right click to create an action listener from custom event.

JET 16

Visual Builder now supports Oracle JET 16. As always, new versions of JET provide a host of new features, one of the key things you'll notice is a larger set of Oracle JET core pack components. These components provide newer alternatives to existing components that improve performance, and in some cases add new capabilities. If you are planning to use the default Redwood theme for your applications, you should be using these new components already. (They currently don't support theming – so don't use them if you plan to change the default look and feel of your app).

CI/CD Enhancements

When you define a manual approval step in a CI/CD pipeline you can now specify a timeout. When the time allocated passes, we'll treat it as an automatic rejection.

Quick insight into privacy rules on build jobs and pipeline that have protection based on global rules. Easier to find out what's the source of protection for a job or a pipeline.

Merge Request Enhancements

You can now assign a group as a reviewer for code changes, in addition to individual reviewers.

Comments that you provide on code changes during merge can use markup-based formatting. A new toolbar helps create that markup.

New option in the branch-protection rules allow you to set a rule that will delete the review branch as part of the merge operation.

Fusion Apps Extension Enhancements

Publish without a pipeline – you can choose a simpler and faster deployment option for your development extension that skips the CI/CD process.

Pillar support – you can choose to isolate extension workspaces by Fusion Apps Pillar. We also group dependencies of extensions by pillar, making it simpler to locate resource you might want to add to your extension.

There are various enhancements to the condition builder for business rules including LOVs for field values, easier development of if complex conditions including declarative if/else and support for a host of built-in functions.
