At Oracle, we recognize that global technology leadership comes with both opportunity and responsibility. As the world accelerates into a new era shaped by the rise of artificial intelligence and growing demand for cloud infrastructure, our own business is evolving rapidly—and so are expectations from our customers, partners, and communities. That’s why we’re focused not just on what we’ve achieved, but on how we’re building for the future: setting clear benchmarks for progress, challenging ourselves to adapt, and striving for transparency and real-world impact in everything we do.
Celebrating Our Progress
We are proud to have met or surpassed all our 2025 sustainability goals set in 2020. Below are some of the highlights.
- Carbon-Free Electricity: We now match 100% of annual electricity used by our offices and public cloud data centers with carbon-free electricity from renewable sources. Since 2020, this has helped Oracle avoid over 4.3 million metric tons of carbon emissions.
- Operational Efficiency: Since 2019, we’ve reduced employee air travel emissions by 68%. Since 2015, we’ve achieved a 63% reduction in landfill waste and a 53% reduction in potable water use at owned facilities, all while diverting 99% of data center e-waste from landfill.
- Supplier Impact: We’ve ensured 100% of our key suppliers now have an environmental program in place, and more than 80% have committed to emissions reduction targets.
- Empowering Our Customers: With solutions like Oracle Cloud Carbon Emissions Allocation and SaaS tools including Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and Oracle Fusion Cloud for Sustainability, we’re equipping organizations globally to measure, manage, and report their environmental footprints.
- Nature Preservation: Our philanthropy has long supported the conservation of wildlife and the natural world. Our 35-year relationship with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund includes funding and Oracle Cloud technology, enabling vital research and anti-poaching patrols. Oracle is a founding funder of Pristine Seas, launched by National Geographic Society in 2008. To date, it has protected more than 6.9 million square kilometers of ocean. Oracle support for Save the Redwoods League has helped to restore 70,000 acres of redwood forest, and much more. These partnerships have lasting impact, benefiting people and the planet.
Transparency and Recognition
We are committed to transparently reporting on our progress through leading standards and frameworks, ensuring accountability in every step of our sustainability journey. Our efforts have earned positive evaluations from trusted rating systems and industry publications:
- Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) ESG Ratings: “A” for strong environmental, social, and governance practices
- CDP: “B” for climate action and transparency
- Featured by Newsweek’s Greenest Companies, Forbes’ Net Zero Leaders, USA Today’s America’s Climate Leaders, and Sustainability Magazine’s Top 250 Most Sustainable Companies
As sustainability regulations and expectations evolve globally, we continuously monitor these changes to remain a compliant, adaptable partner and ready to support our customers and stakeholders wherever they operate.
Looking Ahead—New Goals for a Changing Landscape
Oracle is evolving rapidly as a company. The pace of change is accelerating, and the opportunities for impact are greater than ever. In response, we’re stepping forward with a new set of sustainability commitments designed to match our growth, fulfill rising customer expectations, and align with evolving global standards:
- Expanding Clean Energy: While maintaining 100% carbon-free electricity for public cloud and offices, we’re committing to scale clean energy for our growing portfolio of non-public cloud and AI data center clusters, aiming for 100% by 2035.
- Strengthening Water Stewardship: Being a responsible steward of water is a core priority in how we design and operate our data centers. We are reducing demand on potable water through a variety of strategies such as closed-loop, non-evaporative liquid cooling systems that require only a one-time fill and continuously reuse water. We have also set a new goal to halve water use in our most at-risk regions by 2035.
- Accelerating Circularity: We’re raising the bar for circular product design and are committed to diverting or avoiding 90% of all waste from landfill by 2035.
- Decarbonizing Our Value Chain: We’re deepening engagement with suppliers, championing decarbonization throughout our value chain, and targeting a 20% reduction in total emissions per megawatt of deployed IT capacity by 2030.
- Protecting Nature: We’re taking greater steps to help preserve natural habitats and support biodiversity as our business grows, so that the places where we build and operate remain healthy for both people and wildlife.
