Siebel crash troubleshooting is often time-sensitive and evidence-heavy. When a Siebel Server crash occurs, administrators and support teams must quickly collect the right artifacts, understand the crash context, and review the activity leading up to the failure. This process is often manual, inconsistent, and dependent on evidence spread across logs, call stacks, FDR files, and generated crash artifacts.

Siebel Crash Analyzer is a sample application designed to make that initial triage more repeatable, centralized, and evidence-based. It helps detect crashes, collect key artifacts, generate foundational analysis from logs, call stacks, and FDR data, and present pre-crash context and diagnostic signals for operator and support review.

The sample application monitors crash output generated by the Siebel Server, processes key artifacts such as core dump files, call stack files, FDR files, and related logs, and organizes the collected files in a centralized location for analysis and support review.

When the optional web application is deployed, users can view processed crash records through a dashboard experience. The dashboard can show when crashes occurred, which components were involved, what evidence was collected, and selected diagnostic details for review.

How customers benefit

Siebel Crash Analyzer is intended to reduce the time and manual effort required for initial crash triage. By collecting and organizing evidence consistently, it can help you move more quickly from crash signal to support-ready evidence.

You can benefit from accelerated root cause analysis, improved operational visibility, and more complete diagnostic evidence when engaging Oracle Support. For support teams, the tool can reduce back-and-forth requests for missing files and improve the quality of information available at the start of an investigation.

Key capabilities

  • Crash Monitoring. Siebel Crash Analyzer monitors the Siebel environment for crash output and detects crash events so evidence collection can begin automatically.
  • Artifact Collection. The sample application gathers and consolidates crash-related diagnostic artifacts such as logs, core files, call stack files, FDR files, and related evidence.
  • Crash Analysis. The sample application processes collected crash evidence to identify failure signals, crash context, and foundational diagnostic insights that can support initial triage.
  • Crash Review Dashboard. When the optional web application is deployed, users can review processed crash records, summarized crash insights, artifact details, troubleshooting references, and support handoff information through a dashboard experience.

How it works

Siebel Crash Analyzer is intended to run continuously on each Siebel Server machine where crash monitoring is required. Customers should run the crashanalyzer executable as a daemon process so it can monitor for crash-related artifacts generated by the Siebel Server and begin processing evidence when a crash occurs.

When a crash is detected, the utility processes the generated evidence, including FDR, core, call stack, and related log artifacts, and copies processed artifacts into the configured crash log directory for review. If dashboard viewing is enabled, crash metadata and selected artifact content are published for web application review so users can examine crash records and supporting evidence in the Crash Analyzer dashboard.

The utility can also be run in standalone analysis mode when a customer already has the FDR and core files for a specific crash.

The Siebel Crash Analyzer sample application and utility are supported on Oracle Linux 8 and Oracle Linux 9.

Early access availability

Siebel Crash Analyzer Sample Application is delivered as a POC patch through My Oracle Support. You can request early access by logging a Service Request with Oracle Siebel Support with POC Patch Number: 39668197. You can review My Oracle Support: KB916804 – Technical Note: Introducing Siebel Crash Analyzer for more information and reference the note when logging the Service Request.

The POC patch package includes the crashanalyzer executable, the crashanalyzerwebapp web application, the crashanalyzer_config.cfg configuration file, and the Siebel Crash Analyzer User Guide. You should refer to the User Guide included in the POC patch for detailed installation and configuration instructions.

Looking ahead

As an early-access sample application, Siebel Crash Analyzer provides foundational evidence-based crash analysis today. Future enhancements are planned for known issue matching, troubleshooting guidance, crash pattern management, and AI-driven diagnostic insights.

Oracle encourages early-access customers to share product feedback and real-world crash use cases with Oracle Support and the Siebel product team. This feedback will help validate the solution in real customer environments and guide the next phase of diagnostic capabilities.
