Historically, an oracle was equal parts mystic and wise counsel. They were able to tap into the ephemera to offer prophetic predictions. As a company who supplies answers and predictions through data, Oracle is an echo of our namesake.

Oracle is the data company. AI has been integral to our larger mission for some time—to help people see data in new ways, discover insights, and unlock endless possibilities.

But the advent of Generative AI profoundly changes the way many people work. It’s an undeniable force, already woven into our daily lives in ways that seemed far off just a year ago.

Soon you will find AI agents taking on aspects of business operations, working on behalf of and alongside employees to tackle big and small tasks. They remember past interactions and take feedback, iterate, and learn just like we do. We trust their logic to make high-quality, reasoned, low-risk decisions we can rely on. We ask them to handle multi-step processes that used to take days in a few hours, often with little to no intervention.

At times it feels magical, but sometimes it can also feel…well, mysterious.

Trust comes first

Good AI is built on trust, which is something that’s earned and re-earned through honest communication and actions. It needs more than just data—it needs the depth of transparency, consistency, and results.

You should know when an AI agent is doing its job and feel confident that it doesn’t do anything without your consent. When you ask a question of or give a command to an AI agent, you want to understand the provenance of the information and what it thinks you should do next. And most importantly, you want to know when an AI agent is contributing to the information you’re seeing before you and when it is not.

Planting the seed of infinite possibilities

When we first set out, we asked ourselves how could we integrate AI into the everyday flows and solutions that tens of millions of people are already using? In a way that is transparent, yet not disruptive? Attentive, not intrusive? How could we infuse AI into interfaces without polluting the screen? Make it a presence felt only when people need it? Whether or not we could do all this would depend on visual expressions.

No matter what we’re designing, at Oracle we always look for familiar forms and shapes—elements grounded in the natural world. Representing the journey from the seed of an idea to boundary-pushing innovation, these earthy, yet ethereal compositions began to bloom.

Anywhere Oracle AI is at work, users see these hand-drawn data textures merge and transform into data blooms—visual expressions that are just as unique as our customers’ data.

Data blooms offer a subtle reminder to the user that there’s no foreign digital matter nor outside actor at work. Oracle AI is technology designed to grow where it’s been planted. There’s no cross-pollination.

Your data is yours

We strongly believe there’s beauty to be found in nature. But it goes deeper than that. There are stories to be told. The same can be said for data. It’s not just the data points, but the stories they tell.

Those stories are yours. Your data is yours. Oracle AI operates in the context of what you’ve done in the past to serve you more predictably, more reliably.

The models trained by customers are unique to them, and we take extreme care to protect data privacy and sovereignty.

Just ask Oracle

Much like you can trust us to protect your data, you can trust us to protect your time. When we’re designing user experiences, we ask ourselves: How do users feel once they’ve engaged with our software? (Like literally, do they feel good?) Since we’re embedding generative models into the applications and workflows that our customers use every day, this matters.

Gimmicks like uninvited assistants don’t make people feel good. These additions are often added on top, ad-hoc, like a bright coat of paint to call attention to new technology, but they can be distractions. They can interrupt workflows and take up valuable screen real estate for no reason. They don’t always make jobs easier or more efficient.

You know what does make jobs easier? When people can intuitively converse with technology to get what they need faster. With Oracle AI in just the places and times you need, whenever you interact with the system, the system learns. It picks up on your patterns, and preferences, and correlations, and continuously hones its recommendations to be tailored to you and your context.

You’ve got important things to do. We’re here to help. Just ask Oracle.

Attending CloudWorld? I’m hosting a learning session along with my partner in design Jenny Lam. Come hear and see how Oracle is approaching AI to help people get more out of their data in a way that creates trust, clarity, and expertise—enhancing every experience.

Another can’t-miss session will be hosted by Miranda Nash, GVP of Oracle Applications Development, and Aidan Gomez, founder and CEO of Cohere, as they discuss Oracle’s practical and human-centered approach to embedded AI
