As an extension of Oracle’s EU Sovereign Cloud, we’re pleased to announce the availability of Oracle EU Sovereign Operations for Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer. This is the same Compute Cloud@Customer service offered at the same price as deployed with the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) commercial regions.  Until now, Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer service used cloud automation and administrative services in commercial OCI realms and was managed and supported by global teams. With EU Sovereign Operations you have a new choice that includes:

  • Cloud automation and administrative services for Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer located in one of Oracle’s EU Sovereign Cloud regions
  • EU Sovereign Operations
  • Hardware installation, activation and field hardware support provided by staff with the right to work in the countries of hardware deployment

EU Sovereign Cloud Operations without added cost or compromise

Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer brings the benefits of cloud automation and economics into your data center by running OCI Compute and GPU shapes with storage and networking services on Compute Cloud@Customer. It’s the simplest way for you to run applications and harness the power of GenAI on cloud infrastructure in your data center while helping address strict data residency, security, and low-latency connections to local resources and real-time operations.

European customers are increasingly concerned with control of their data, full operational resiliency of their critical platforms within the control of EU only staff and the ability to meet evolving regulatory requirements. Oracle EU Sovereign Operations is designed to help meet these requirements for both private companies in regulated industries and public sector organizations that use database cloud services to run their applications and manage sensitive data, and have full control of the platform within the EU, by EU based personnel only.

EU Sovereign Operations for Compute Cloud@Customer is offered with the control plane located in one of Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud regions, currently either Madrid, Spain or Frankfurt, Germany. This service is offered in European Union member countries and other select countries in Europe. The service delivers the same features, functions, value and service level objectives (SLOs) offered with Compute Cloud@Customer service with control planes from OCI Compute public regions.

The cloud operation teams which control your platform are subject to the same controls of Oracle’s EU Sovereign Cloud, being composed by EU Residents,  employed by Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud legal entities and are located exclusively in the EU while performing their duties. The Compute Cloud@Customer infrastructure is constrained to deployments in EU countries and additionally to the UK, Norway, Switzerland, Israel, Turkey, and Bosnia Herzegovina.

EU Sovereign Operations for Compute Cloud@Customer provides GDPR compliance by design and by default and full operational control within the EU, being available for new subscriptions starting with Oracle Compute Cloud@Customer X10.

The same pricing and programs as with OCI commercial operations

Pricing, available services, licensing rules, commercial programs like Bring Your Own License (BYOL), Oracle Support Rewards or Multi-Customer are the same as in OCI commercial public cloud regions. To help customers protect their data, Oracle requires:

  • The Data and Device Retention service, where failed permanent storage devices or permanent storage devices at the end of service remain with EU Sovereign Operations customers.
  • Customers to escort hardware support and services personnel

Conclusion

Only Oracle offers a distributed cloud portfolio that meets your privacy and resiliency needs whatever is your preferred deployment model (public, private or hybrid cloud), with the full operational control in the EU.
