Oracle AI Database@Azure, Oracle AI Database@AWS, and Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud are Oracle-managed database services running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), but physically placed inside Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud data centers, respectively. They bring the same Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Autonomous AI Database you know from OCI, empowered with extreme performance, security, and availability, and bring it closer to your applications running in those hyperscaler environments.

  • Oracle AI Database@Azure runs Oracle AI Database services on OCI inside Microsoft Azure regions, available across a wide set of regions worldwide.
  • Oracle AI Database@AWS runs the same services on OCI inside AWS regions, generally available since July 2025, starting in US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon) and expanding.
  • Oracle AI Database@Google Cloud runs Oracle AI Database services on OCI inside Google Cloud regions, including Ashburn, Frankfurt, London, Tokyo, Sydney, Mumbai, and more.

In all three of these multicloud hyperscalers, the database tier runs physically inside the respective cloud’s data centers but is managed through the OCI control plane. That is what makes OCI Full Stack DR integration possible. For the complete list of regions, services, and other information, you can look up the details at the Oracle Multicloud Capabilities portal.

What is OCI Full Stack DR?

OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery (Full Stack DR) orchestrates the transition of compute, database, and applications between OCI regions from around the globe with a single click. Customers can automate the steps needed to recover one or more business systems without redesigning or re-architecting existing infrastructure, databases, or applications and without needing specialized management or conversion servers.

OCI Full Stack DR supports role transitions for Oracle AI Database services running in Oracle AI Database@Azure, @AWS, and @Google Cloud. With Oracle Data Guard, Active Data Guard, or Autonomous Data Guard configured as a prerequisite, customers can switchover, run DR drills (Start and Stop), and failover an entire portfolio of Oracle databases across any of these hyperscaler environments in a single, auditable plan execution, directly from the OCI Console, without manually scripting each database transition or coordinating steps across teams.

Where OCI Full Stack DR fits

You already have options. Oracle Data Guard APIs (via OCI Console, CLI, or SDKs) let you perform switchover, DR drills, and failover on any of these database services today. That is the foundation, and it works.

Full Stack DR adds orchestration on top of that foundation. Data Guard APIs handle one database at a time, which is fine for a single database, but most real business systems have many. Full Stack DR introduces structure where things usually break down. Instead of treating databases individually, it lets you:

  • Group them into a single recovery unit (a DR Protection Group)
  • Define a repeatable DR workflow (switchover, failover, DR drill plans)
  • Execute role transitions together (one plan run, coordinated across all databases)

So instead of “failover DB1, then DB2, hope nothing breaks,” you get “execute one plan, everything transitions together.”

The value: faster RTO, repeatable drills, pre-checks before cutover, and a full audit trail of who did what and when. The databases transition through Data Guard underneath, and Full Stack DR orchestrates them as a group.

Similarly, you can integrate Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure running on Oracle Database@Azure with OCI Full Stack DR. The experience for Oracle Database@AWS follows exactly the same process.

OCI Full Stack DR supports all Oracle AI Database managed services, including:

  • Oracle Autonomous AI Database Serverless
  • Oracle Autonomous AI Database on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure
  • Oracle Base Database Service
  • Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure
  • Oracle Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure

For the latest details of which services are available in which partner cloud, please refer to the Oracle Multicloud Capabilities portal.

The one prerequisite

Configure Data Guard or Autonomous Data Guard through the console, CLI, or SDK, not manually, so Full Stack DR can recognize and drive it. Then add the databases as members of paired DR Protection Groups, and Full Stack DR auto-generates the built-in switchover, failover, and DR drill (Start and Stop) plan groups.

One important caveat

Full Stack DR protects the Oracle AI Database services running on OCI inside Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. It does not protect the native compute, storage, networking, or application services of those clouds, including virtual machines, Kubernetes services, native storage, or application services.

For the application tier, pair Full Stack DR with the hyperscaler’s native DR tooling in a split-stack design, and coordinate execution with a runbook or pipeline.

Final word

Oracle AI Database@Azure, @AWS, and @Google Cloud give you the flexibility to run mission-critical Oracle databases inside the hyperscaler of your choice. Full Stack DR makes sure that flexibility does not come at the cost of DR readiness.

Whether you are running three databases or thirty, the combination of Oracle Active Data Guard or Autonomous Data Guard with OCI Full Stack DR orchestration gives you a tested, auditable, and repeatable path to switchover and failover across any of these hyperscaler environments, from a single OCI Console.
