We are excited to unveil a new level of integration between Autonomous Database Serverless (ADB-S) and Full Stack Disaster Recovery (Full Stack DR) within the OCI console. By linking Full Stack Disaster Recovery directly into the ADB-S pages OCI console, the ADB-S engineering team has taken yet another step toward seamless Disaster Recovery as a Service for OCI.
With the new Full Stack DR integration within the ADB-S pages, users will be able to see if the database belongs to one or more Full Stack DR protection groups and be able to navigate from the ADB-S page within the OCI console to the appropriate Full Stack DR page.
The following tasks can now be initiated directly from the Autonomous Database details page.
- Navigate to Full Stack DR from the ADB-S page in the console, where the database can be added as a member of a new or existing DR protection group.
- Navigate to related Full Stack DR protection groups from the ADB-S page in the console in which the database is already a member.
- Navigate to related Full Stack DR protection groups from the ADB-S console to initiate a failover and switchover of the full application stack.
Although this functionality is not yet available with OCI Autonomous Database Dedicated Infrastructure, you will see these new feature enhancements the next time you create or view an existing Autonomous Transaction Processing or Data Warehouse database.
Let’s do a walkthrough of the ADB-S page and Full Stack DR integration in the OCI console.
- When you navigate to the ADB-S information section, you can find Full Stack DR details in the Disaster Recovery section.

2.The Full Stack DR section will show either “Configure” or “Enabled” status.
- Configure — If the ADB-S database is not part of any of the Full Stack DR protection groups, it will show the “Configure” status. Clicking the Configure button will take you to the home page of the Full Stack DR service home page. From there, you can create the required DR protection groups and add the database as a member.

- Enabled – If the ADB-S database is part of any Full Stack DR protection groups, it will show the “Enabled” status. Clicking the Enabled button will take you to the Full Stack DR protection group page, where the ADB-S database is added as a member. From there, you can create or run the DR plans.

3. If the same ADB-S database was added to multiple DR protection groups, you will see a dropdown option to select the DR protection group. Select the DR protection group, and clicking “Goto DR protection group” will take you to the DR protection group plans section.

4.Additional details about the ADB-S DR configuration can be found in the Disaster Recovery section under the Resources section. Select the three dots button from the Autonomous Cross Region Data Guard database.

You can see the below two options when you select “Switchover.”
- Switchover-only database – Perform the database switchover only
- The switchover stack with Full Stack Disaster Recovery has the option to select the DR protection group which ADB-S is associated with, and selecting “Go to DR protection group” will take you to the standby DR protection group DR plans section. You can create DR plans or run existing DR plans.

Summary
With these new enhancements, you can navigate to the Full Stack DR service directly and configure it from the ADB-S pages in the OCI console. The tighter integration between ADB-S and Full Stack DR allows customers to perform DR operations like switchover, failover, and DR drills seamlessly for the Full Stack application using the Full Stack DR service.
