We are happy to announce two new features for Exadata Fleet Update, enhancing and further optimizing the fleet-wide maintenance experience for our ExaDB-D and ExaDB-C@C customers.
- Enhanced collection diagnostics with optional incident logs and trace collection for a group of targets
- Custom Oracle Grid Infrastructure software image
You can opt-in to enable automatic diagnostic collection. This enhancement enables diagnostics collection and notifications for a group of targets (collection). By doing so, Oracle Cloud Operations can identify, investigate, track, and resolve potential issues more quickly and effectively, enhancing the overall experience.
Custom Oracle Grid Infrastructure software images can now be used to update a group (collection) of Oracle Grid Infrastructure targets, allowing further customization by allowing one-off patches to be added on top of standard Oracle-published Release Update (RU) images.
Let’s take a look at some of these features in a bit more detail:
Enable Incident Logs and Trace Collection for a group of targets (collection)
Automatic diagnostic collection can now be enabled during the creation of the maintenance cycle. It is recommended that automatic diagnostic collection for all targets be enabled for all maintenance cycles. This allows log collection for both the current and future maintenance cycles. You can also decide to enable log collection only for the current maintenance cycle or use the existing settings on the targets.

Custom Oracle Grid Infrastructure software image
When creating the maintenance cycle, you can navigate to option to change the grid infrastructure image in order to select the custom Oracle Grid Infrastructure image to be used. See here for the detailed instructions regarding how to create the custom Oracle Grid Infrastructure software image.
