Post-Quantum Cryptography on Java Card [LRN2588]

Timo Lisk, System Architect, Infineon

Daniel Hübner, System Architect, Infineon

Session Format: In Person

Quantum computers have the potential to break cryptographic schemes like RSA and ECC, which are currently used for encrypting personal and sensitive data. Ultimately, this threatens the confidentiality of digital communication and data exchange in mobile communications—in the Internet of Things or in the public domain. German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon has been at the forefront of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) development since 2017. They present a secure channel implementation between a Java Card platform and a backend system using PQC algorithm Kyber, one of the finalists of the international standardization process initiated by the National Institute for Standards and Technologies.
