Kingold Group Takes a Bold Step into the Cloud

What do you think your company’s CFO would prefer: more coffee breaks for the finance team, or more analysis? At China’s Kingold Group, a multi-industry conglomerate with more than 10,000 employees and business operations across Australia, China, and Europe, one critical financial report used to take about 12 minutes to run. For example, a four-person Kingold IT team in the conglomerate’s real estate division wrote a program to glean property listings in top prospect markets, creating a database of highly desirable acquisitions for the M&A group to consider.

Chang is particularly impressed at how easy it has been to lift-and-shift critical systems from legacy infrastructure to Oracle Exadata Cloud at Customer. “It took us only 7 days to lift-and-shift from (Microsoft) Azure, and we were able to reduce the cost by 44%,” he reports.
