Recently, Oracle Software Investment Advisory (SIA) had the opportunity to work with one of the largest and most important financial institutions in South America. Although the bank is a longtime customer of Oracle, their newly appointed head of data administration was not familiar with Oracle’s licensing policies and contract structure and needed to quickly get up to speed. SIA was brought in to support the needs of the bank and highlight the value of their Oracle investments.
Establishing a solid relationship as a business partner with the bank was the first order of business for SIA. In a series of discovery sessions, SIA paid close attention to the priorities and expectations of the database administration department and its new leader, and developed a customized License Knowledge Transfer plan to address its knowledge gaps.
This learning plan was formed into a set of specialized “chapters” which were later grouped into an Oracle licensing knowledge “book”. In it, SIA outlined the structure of metrics and their terms of use, Oracle’s Licensing and Support policies, and the definition and benefits of the bank’s unlimited license agreement with Oracle. This was done within an understanding of the bank’s VMware platform, and its cloud usage scenario and infrastructure, currently running on AWS.
The bank is now confident in their knowledge of the rights and duties of software assets and related licensing, and the database manager is better equipped to make recommendations and interact more effectively with top decision-makers at the bank. Importantly, the department is able to achieve greater operational efficiency and cost reduction by acknowledging the competitive advantages in licensing with Oracle.
This series of SIA education sessions, combined with the strategic vision of key account leadership at Oracle, has given both the bank and Oracle greater openness and a level of trust resulting in new opportunities for both on-premises and cloud solutions.
SIA – Eliminate guesswork. Make smart decisions.
