Oracle invites you to use its cloud platform, OCI, with race data in a no-stress, beginner-friendly environment.

Being intimidated is an uncomfortable thing. And when you’re intimidated not by an individual, not by a big life goal (saving for retirement, anyone?), but by a discipline, it’s hard to know where to start.

It gets worse—putting off learning feels good in the moment but makes your situation more precarious. While you  put it off, everyone else is catching up, the discipline itself evolves, existing literature and documentation become outdated….essentially, the whole world moves on except you.

Phew, I need to lay down.

For many developers machine learning (ML) is that big, scary thing. Developers may feel at home with their particular side of the front-end or back-end environment but when it comes to machine learning, dipping a toe into the freezing lake of big data is enough reason to stay on shore.

This is why we are offering you the opportunity to team up with Oracle and Red Bull Racing Honda to join a series of Hands-on Labs which uses race data to teach machine learning.

These labs, three in total, will progress in terms of difficulty. This means that the first lab will welcome beginners with no background in machine learning, the next session will be for developers with intermediate experience, and the final lab will use advanced ML techniques. A developer without ML experience can start with the first lab and continue through the second and third labs (dates to be announced soon).

The first lab kicks off on August 11, 2021 at 8:00 AM PST. During the lab, attendees will be given an Oracle Cloud Free Tier account. This account provides more than enough fire power to train an ML model and as a bonus, attendees get to keep this free OCI account for continued use after the lab ends. Attendees will also receive credits for additional OCI services used in the lab that will remain active for 30 days, enabling efforts after the lab concludes.

Oracle data scientists will be present throughout the Hands-on Lab to support all attendees, and the Oracle services used. They will provide lab guides and documentation that will allow attendees to work at their own pace to train ML models and take the checkered flag!

If you love high speed racing and want to develop machine learning algorithms, come hang out with us and see how it works! #redbullracing #chargeon
