As anyone in the IT business can tell you, the final steps in project delivery can feel both exciting and chaotic! If you would have asked me two months ago what our slate of new product announcements at Oracle CloudWorld 2024 were going to look like, I could not have predicted that all these projects would come together in time for us to announce them at this event – but they did! With a little bit of luck and some super-human efforts from a fantastic team, we have delivered what could be the most exciting set of Oracle GoldenGate announcements in many years.
GoldenGate is one of those very rare software tools that continues to reign at the top of its game even after decades in the top spot. Many 1000’s of the largest businesses and governments in the world depend upon GoldenGate for high availability and real-time data integration. Even as the data integration software market continues its transition into next-generation data fabric and data mesh patterns, GoldenGate 23ai sits atop the market for customers who seek real-time solutions to pressing data challenges.
The GoldenGate platform provides a broad set of capabilities for creating a multi-cloud capable transaction fabric, including support for change data capture, data replication, streaming data transformations, stream analytics and data governance for real-time pipelines. Together, this is the ideal platform for creating and deploying the real-time data products that any modern business requires.
One of the reasons that GoldenGate has stood the test of time is that it is continually expanding first-class support for all modern data stores. This means that our customers are able to standardize on GoldenGate for their real-time data needs with the confidence that GoldenGate will continue to grow and change alongside their data ecosystems. Today, GoldenGate supports over a 1000 different combinations of data stores, operating systems, chipsets, and multicloud environments.
This year’s Oracle CloudWorld 2024 continues our long tradition of rolling out exciting new features, enhancements, partnerships and capabilities for the GoldenGate platform. Without further ado, here are my Top 5 picks for this year!
These past few months have been incredibly exciting as we’ve been busy with the global rollout of Oracle Database@Azure and Oracle Database@Google Cloud. GoldenGate was previously announced as part of the Oracle Database@Google Cloud solution and now we are pleased to announce that GoldenGate will soon be a part of the Oracle Database@Azure solution stack as well. Stay tuned for more details as these exciting new multicloud integrations with GoldenGate come closer to general availability!

Oracle Database JSON Relational Duality Views are a landmark new feature in Oracle Database 23ai that provides game-changing flexibility and simplicity for Oracle Database developers. This breakthrough innovation overcomes the historical challenges that developers have faced when building applications, either when using the relational model or when using the document model. Developers now get the flexibility and data access benefits of the JSON document model as well as the storage efficiency and power of the relational model.
Starting with GoldenGate 23.5 and Oracle Database 23.6, developers can now setup change data capture on the duality views directly (the data remains in row-store format internally, but data changes in the document views are captured in the transaction log). GoldenGate can capture any new documents or changes to existing document views, an then propagate the document across the GoldenGate multicloud transaction fabric, downstream into the Data Streams channels. Data Streams uses AsyncAPI to provide a publish-and-subscribe (Pub/Sub) JSON interface that clients can connect and receive streams of data from.
Putting these two features together (JSON Duality and Data Streams) is an industry-first way to work with and replicate application objects completely in the data tier – providing efficient storage, low-latency messaging, and transactionally consistent data processing. This makes it simpler than ever for Data Consumers to get trusted data in real-time from Data Producers!

The quest to make complex problems simple to solve is never-ending! But, we’ve made a major step-forward in this update to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure GoldenGate with the addition of a new ZeroETL Mirror capability. This new ZeroETL Mirror capability removes approximately 90% of the complexity in setting up logical online replication between instances of Oracle Autonomous Database.
For example, customers who run an application with Autonomous Transaction Processing may want to easily setup a reporting instance on that same data hosted in Autonomous Data Warehouse. They can already very easily use cloning features but what if they want a real-time copy of ATP into ADW and they always want it in sync? Enter ZeroETL Mirror, which can easily copy all data from the source database and keep the new database perfectly in sync, in real-time, including schema changes over time.
Our goal for this new capability is to make it so easy to set this up that it can be done with zero GoldenGate experience and zero DBA experience… we want any business person to be able to quickly and easily setup their own local copy of reporting data (as a perfect, real-time mirror of the source)!

GoldenGate is a quintessential solution for any-to-any and one of GoldenGate’s most popular integrations is the Microsoft Azure cloud for all their common services such as for Azure SQL, Azure Fabric, Azure Event Hubs and the various 3rd parties that run on Azure including Databricks, Snowflake and MongoDB to name a few. This year we have announced a slate of new integrations and certifications with Azure including:
These integrations underscore our commitment to invest in our customer requirements across both Oracle and non-Oracle data ecosystems.

I’ve been an early advocate of Data Mesh architectures since ~2019 and event-driven ‘Kappa style’ data architecture since ~2015 when Apache Kafka was gaining traction in early big data streaming solutions. Over the years many things have changed, but the driving business need to do more workloads in real-time has not. As we move forward into the future, there will always be more demand for real-time data and not less. Nobody wants to go backwards to bad old days when everything was batch processing.
GoldenGate remains at the forefront of these modern architectures, providing a distributed microservices-based mesh/fabric that can transmit data transactions at global-scale and in real-time. For distributed data transactions, GoldenGate is unmatched in the industry.
One of the long-time partners for GoldenGate has been Solace – who are the industry leader in Event Mesh technologies. Basically, when organizations hit the wall with Apache Kafka (not fast enough, not secure enough, not scalable enough, or just too complex to manage) they typically bring in Solace as a replacement. Solace is widely used across the world for mission-critical use cases in banking, trading, gaming, smart cities and smart manufacturing.
By updating and modernizing the GoldenGate integration to Solace, we are truly connecting best of distributed data mesh with the best of distributed event mesh architectures. For organizations looking to step up to a mission-critical event-driven world…look no further!

Well, that’s a quick look at my top 5 most favorite new announcements from Oracle CloudWorld 2024, but by no means were these the only announcements. We have updated our Lifetime Support Policy for GoldenGate, launched a new version of GoldenGate Free, launched a new version of Oracle Veridata, announced support for 3rd party credential framework integration to GoldenGate, and we even announced a new set of GoldenGate 23ai curriculum with Oracle University… whew, I hope you agree with me that the team behind GoldenGate sure has been busy these past several months.
