DMU product logo

DMU is a free next-generation migration tool that streamlines the entire Unicode database migration process with an intuitive GUI interface that minimizes the DBA's manual workload and decision-making. It is the officially supported method for migrating Oracle Databases to the Unicode character set.

The latest DMU release 23.1 introduces a set of new features to further enhance the efficiency and completeness of the Unicode migration solution for Oracle Database customers. It supports the migration of Oracle Database 23ai as well as previous Oracle Database releases of 11.2.0.4 or later.

The new feature highlights in this release include:

  • Convert using Data Pump method to boost the conversion performance for large tables containing CLOB data and reduce the migration downtime window requirement
  • Index Check feature to proactively detect and report index key size violations due to the database conversion to Unicode for early analysis and remediation
  • Support for migrating blockchain and immutable tables to Unicode
  • Support for Java SE Development Kit (JDK) version 11

Please refer to the DMU product page and the DMU documentation library for more information about this release. Users of older versions of the DMU are advised to upgrade to the new release to take advantage of the latest features and updates.

See the DMU Getting Started page for quick step-by-step instructions to download, install, and start using the tool.
