Organizations rely on Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor, manage, and organize large estates of on-premises Oracle databases. With the new integration between Enterprise Manager and Oracle Data Safe, those same customers can more easily extend centralized security assessment, activity monitoring, and sensitive data protection across their database environments.
Data Safe is a cloud service running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure that helps database and security teams assess database configurations, evaluate user risk, discover and mask sensitive data, monitor database activity, manage alerts and reports, and manage SQL Firewall policies.
Previously, registering a large number of on-premises databases with Data Safe could require administrators to repeat onboarding and configuration steps for each database. The new integration enables customers to initiate registration through an Enterprise Manager API that uses the database inventory and group structure already maintained in Enterprise Manager.
The integration is available with Oracle Enterprise Manager 24ai Release 1, Release Update 11.
Connect Database Operations with Security Management
Many organizations already use Enterprise Manager as the operational control point for their on-premises Oracle databases. The integration with Data Safe enables them to build on that existing investment rather than create and maintain a separate onboarding process.
After completing the required Data Safe configuration and network connectivity prerequisites, administrators call the Enterprise Manager API and specify the Enterprise Manager database group they want to register. Detailed setup and API instructions are available in the linked documentation. The Enterprise Manager API then:
- Creates the required Data Safe service account and grants the necessary privileges on each database
- Registers each database in the selected group with Data Safe
- Creates a corresponding target database group in Data Safe
- Assigns the registered databases to that target database group
This allows customers to submit a single API request to register multiple databases while preserving the grouping already established in Enterprise Manager. Once registration is complete, the targets are immediately available in Data Safe, allowing teams to review Security Assessment and User Assessment results and begin using Sensitive Data Discovery, Data Masking, Activity Auditing, Alerts and Reporting, and SQL Firewall management.
By automating the registration workflow, the integration helps reduce onboarding complexity, minimizes manual steps and opportunities for error, and helps Enterprise Manager customers apply security capabilities more consistently across their on-premises database estate.
Whether an organization manages a few databases or hundreds, administrators can spend less time configuring individual targets and more time strengthening database security.

Get Started During the Data Safe Promotion
Data Safe is already included at no additional cost for Oracle cloud databases. From June 12, 2026, through February 28, 2027, Oracle is waiving Data Safe service charges for eligible on-premises Oracle databases, Oracle databases running on compute instances, and Amazon RDS for Oracle. Charges for audit record collection above applicable free usage limits may still apply.

Build on Your Enterprise Manager Investment
Enterprise Manager remains the central platform for managing the health, performance, configuration, and lifecycle of on-premises Oracle databases. Data Safe complements those capabilities with centralized database security services.
By integrating the two, organizations can use Enterprise Manager to identify and organize the databases they manage, register those databases with Data Safe at scale, and then use Data Safe to evaluate risk, protect sensitive information, monitor activity, and strengthen their database security posture.
For Enterprise Manager customers, the integration provides a more direct path to adopting Data Safe across their existing on-premises Oracle database environments.
