Zheng Wang
Senior Principal Applied Scientist
Zheng Wang is a Senior Principal Applied Scientist and tech lead at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), specializing in applied machine learning, natural language processing, and large-scale AI systems. He has led the end-to-end design and implementation of key initiatives including NL2SQL and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) agent pipelines, both built from scratch to enable intelligent data querying and knowledge-driven applications. He also trained a document understanding foundation model on million-scale datasets and fine-tuned it for named entity recognition tasks. In addition to his research leadership, he mentors PhD interns on advanced topics such as graph-based multimodal RAG, with research currently under review at ACL. Zheng holds an M.A.Sc in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, where he focused on facial detection and recognition, and a B.A.Sc in Engineering Science with honors from the same institution.
