A recent update to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Email Delivery makes it even easier for Oracle APEX developers to uptake Email Delivery as their APEX_MAIL sender. Now your apps can send 100 emails per day from OCI Email Delivery – up to a maximum of 3,000 emails per month – free of charge. This new free allocation is visible on the OCI price list. Many low-code APEX apps that send emails as part of approval flows, identity verifications, and more can benefit from it.

While this change applies to all APEX instances running within (or able to reach) OCI, it is especially nice for non-production instances located in cloud tenancies that do not currently have credits available to spend. In such cases, it is common to be working with a development or test instance that needs to send only a small number of emails. Now you can start sending these emails immediately. You no longer must first upgrade the tenancy to paying status and purchase a small amount of cloud credits.

See this blog post for an example of setting up OCI Email Delivery with APEX_MAIL on Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB). You can also find instructions in the ADB service documentation.

Special thanks to our Oracle colleagues in the OCI Email Delivery team for making this free allocation available to the APEX community!
