More than 850 students across Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand took part in the Oracle APEX @University ASEAN engagements. Across the sessions, students created applications inspired by ideas and needs they recognized in their communities.
The range was striking: event management and employee directory apps, a pet adoption app, an automated job application app, public complaint and facility reporting apps, and e-commerce applications. Students were invited to come up with an app idea and build it with Oracle APEX; they responded with projects that showed both imagination and practical thinking.
Student ideas became working applications
For the Oracle APEX Product Management team, seeing students converting an idea to an application was a powerful outcome. It offered a direct view of how students engage with Oracle APEX when they can apply it to something they care about and of the range of solutions they can create.
The engagements brought together students from Tarumanagara University, Mercu Buana University, BINUS University, Nanyang Polytechnic, HELP University, Taylor’s University, Sunway University, and Srinakharinwirot University.

Hands-On with AI: What Clicked for Students
Students were especially enthusiastic about vibe coding with APEXlang, creating applications using natural language, and exploring AI Agents. Their response showed how engaging these capabilities can be when students can experience them directly.
For the product team, that enthusiasm alongside the applications students built, was valuable insight into what resonates with future developers and how they imagine using Oracle APEX.
From Sessions to Syllabus
The impact is continuing beyond the sessions. Some universities are planning to incorporate Oracle APEX as an additional subject, while faculty at two universities are already teaching it. This growing role in university learning is an important outcome of the ASEAN engagements.
More than 850 students reached, a broad range of applications created, strong interest in APEXlang and AI capabilities, and growing faculty engagement: together, these outcomes make the ASEAN edition a success for the students, universities, and Oracle APEX.

Thank you
These engagements would not have been possible without the support of many people. Sincere Thanks to the university leaders, faculty, and students for their enthusiasm and participation, to Oracle Academy for their partnership, and to our colleagues and everyone else who contributed along the way.
