7:35 – 8:00 a.m. PST | 11 Crazy Things I Didn’t Know You Could Do With Java Until I Got Java Certified |
Java | Hanno Embregts, Oracle ACE Pro | In the summer of 2021, I got my Java 11 certification. I expected it to be a breeze, because I’d been a Java developer for 14 years already and surely I should have seen it all by now. Boy, was I wrong! I came across lots of things that I didn’t even know were possible with Java. Now this can either mean that I have been a terrible developer for a painfully long time, or that these things are just a bit lesser known and in fact very interesting to hear about. I’m hoping the latter is actually the case, so in this talk I will take 25 minutes to go through 11 things that took me 14 years to learn. Which means that you have the chance to learn these things 294336 times faster than I did! 🚀 |
8:05 – 8:30 a.m. PST | Getting Started with Oracle Database at Azure – Autonomous Database |
Multicloud solutions | Anil Mahadev, Oracle ACE Pro | As organizations increasingly move towards cloud solutions, understanding the integration of Oracle Database with Microsoft Azure becomes essential for beginners and intermediate users. This abstract provides a comprehensive introduction to deploying, managing, and optimizing Oracle Databases in the Azure environment.

8:35 – 9:00 a.m. PST | Sheldon Cooper learns about JSON Relational Duality |
Oracle 23ai for Developers | Rishin Mitra, Oracle ACE Pro | In modern application development, JSON is becoming the de-facto standard for storing and transmitting data. However, we can’t define relationships between the JSON documents themselves. JSON Relational Duality View addresses this problem. It gives the best of both worlds. It exposes data stored in relational database tables as JSON documents. We all love Sheldon Cooper from “The Big Bang Theory”. We know that he is reluctant to any change. Join me in this session where LEONARD, PENNY, RAJ, HOWARD, AMY and BERNADETTE through simple use-cases, will try to persuade SHELDON to use JSON Relational-Duality View, a key addition in Oracle Database 23ai. Sheldon will learn to leverage the best of both relational and document data models. Will Sheldon be convinced? |
9:05 – 9:30 a.m. PST | Enhancing Fusion Shipments with EBS-Like Trip Stops by using VB Studio & OIC |
Oracle Apps | Oracle ACE Associate |
This session presents a custom Oracle EBS-like trip stop functionality developed for TAMA GROUP as part of their Fusion Apps implementation. Utilizing App Composer Custom Objects and a VB AppUIs with Redwood designs, the solution enables efficient grouping of shipments into trips with custom logic, including the initiation of Ship Confirm for all associated shipments. The presentation will detail each solution components, highlighting the usage of BI Publisher, custom and out-of-the-box ESS jobs, App Composer Groovy scripts, and Oracle Integration Cloud. Attendees will witness a live demonstration of the system integration and customization processes. The incorporation of Redwood designs has significantly enhanced the user experience, offering an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interface that simplifies complex logistic operations. This session will provide attendees with insights into practical implementation strategies, showcasing the improved operational efficiencies. |
9:35 – 10:00 a.m. PST | Getting more for less from OCI Object Storage |
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure | Lucas Jellema, Oracle ACE Pro | One of the most fundamental OCI services, there is a lot to learn about and gain from Object Storage. About encryption, 10x cost reduction applying data lifecycle management, fine grained object access policies and Pre Authenticated Requests URL (PAR). By leveraging PARs, Object Storage can easily be made part of applications and even database procedures and a simple and extremely cheap and green datastore solution with CRUD functionality can be created. This session discusses some of the less obvious features of OCI Object Storage. It also introduces the OCI File Explorer, a free GUI file navigator to interact with OCI Object Storage. |
10:05 – 10:30 a.m. PST | Application monitoring with OCI Synthetic Monitoring |
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure | Graham Smith, Oracle ACE Director | OCI provides many systems monitoring & alerting tools including Synthetic Monitoring. This session explores why traditional server and service monitoring is good but how Synthetic Monitoring adds significant value. Graham will explain what Synthetic Monitoring is and how it can be used to monitor applications to improve service levels to customers. The session will use the Synthetic Monitoring features available within OCI’s Observability & Management framework and will include live demos and real-world examples. |
