For August, we’ve assembled a fresh collection of must-read posts focused on all things Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Whether you’re looking to automate tasks, boost cloud security, master API integrations, or streamline cloud storage, this curated roundup features practical solutions and expert tips from leading ACEs. Dive in to stay ahead with the latest in OCI innovation and best practices!
Abhilash Kumar Bhattaram - OCI & The Cloud DBA
For decades, Oracle DBAs have thrived in the command line. We’ve whispered arcane incantations into sqlplus, summoned backups with RMAN, and tamed complex clusters with srvctl. We know our tools, we trust our scripts, and above all—we speak fluent terminal. Read more.
Brendan Tierney - OCI Stored Video Analysis
OCI Video Analysis is a part of the OCI Vision service, designed to process stored videos and identify labels, objects, texts, and faces within each frame. It can analyze the entire video or every frame in the video using pre-trained or custom models. The feature provides information about the detected labels, objects, texts, and faces, and provides the time at which they’re detected. With a timeline bar, you can directly look for a label or object and navigate to the exact timestamp in the video where a particular label or object is found. Read more.
Krishnakumar Kunka Mohanram - OCI IAM – OCI Command line – Uploading API Keys to User in Default and Custom Domain
In this article, we will cover a common requirement: uploading an API key to a user (Default and Custom Domain). While API keys can typically be created and managed through the OCI Console, there are scenarios where CLI becomes essential, such as during API key rotation. In such cases, a new key must be generated and uploaded to the user. Now, imagine performing this task for 100 users. it quickly becomes a time-consuming and error-prone process. Read more.
Lucas Jellema - No Code challenge: create file named after user in OCI Bucket through OCI API Gateway
In this article, I will share what I could not find (exactly) in the documentation and what my AI assistants wildly hallucinated about (too little documentation, too little code samples?). It is a fairly simple mechanism that I am planning on using a lot: save data from a static web application in a secure way without having to run a database or writing a lot of code. Read more.
Marcus Vinicius Miguel Pedro - How to Automate the Restore of /u01 on OCI Using Shell Script and oci-cli
Since I started the creation of AutoUpgrade-Composer, I’ve set up a lab environment (a Virtual Machine) using the OCI Tenancy that the ACE Program provides to Oracle ACEs. Read more.
Osama Mustafa - Implementing GitOps with OCI Resource Manager: Advanced Infrastructure Drift Detection and Automated Remediation
Modern cloud infrastructure demands continuous monitoring and automated governance to ensure configurations remain compliant with intended designs. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Resource Manager provides powerful capabilities for implementing GitOps workflows with sophisticated drift detection and automated remediation mechanisms. This comprehensive guide explores advanced patterns for infrastructure state management, policy enforcement, and automated compliance restoration. Read more.
Plamen Mushkov - Scripting OCI Objects creation using CLI
Already having some experience with AI assisted coding using Cursor, I tried to put it on another test today. In one of my personal projects, I needed secure access to Oracle Cloud’s Object Storage buckets for uploading and downloading files. I’ve done it already in the past and I knew the steps. You need a new compartment, a new bucket, optionally a new user and security credentials. After that, you need to create a new credential in your APEX application and use the credential static ID in your REST API calls to the OCI object storage. Read more.
Simo Vilmunen - Configuring OCI VTAP with Guardian to monitor your OT network
This time I had to get Guardian VM installed on OCI for our OT network to monitor the devices. What is OT network? Read more.
Vidhyadharan Thirumurugan - Understanding and Implementing Security Zones in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
In the evolving landscape of cloud security, prevention is better than cure. With the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, it’s no longer enough to monitor and respond — we must design our infrastructure to avoid misconfigurations in the first place. That’s where Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Security Zones come in — an indispensable feature for ensuring enforced cloud governance and compliance from Day One. Read more.
Yurii Slobodianiuk - Next-Gen Document Creation: Integrating OCI Document Generator with Oracle APEX
OCI Document Generator is a cloud-based platform that enables you to create PDFs, Word, Excel, HTML, and XML documents effortlessly through customisable templates. Sounds great — let’s see how it works and if it’s better than AOP. Read more.
